Golf Club de Lausanne

The city of Lausanne, on the shores of Lake Geneva, is officially named Olympic capital. Golf also has a long tradition here. The road from Lake Geneva to the Lausanne Golf Club climbs to an altitude of over 800 meters. Founded in 1921, the club still retains its charm. Stylish clubhouse with generous caddie service, balls on the driving range next to the pro shop are free.

The 18-hole parkland course is lined with mature chestnut and pine trees. The area under the trees is cleared, making it easier to find balls.

Pleasantly, the only distance markers to the greens are thin sticks that say 135 meters. This makes the fairways visually clean. Those who need precise yardage can purchase an over-the-top birdie card.

An interesting hole is the par 3 third hole. Sic only 120 meters from the yellow tees, but anything shorter or to the right stays well below the green. The sixth hole has a 6 bunker protected elevated green. The only body of water lurks just in front of the green on the 15th hole.

In mid-September, the fairways and greens were in great shape.

Guter Golfplatz und richtig schöne Anlage. Nicht spektakulär, aber alles gute und schöne Bahnen, ausgezeichnet gepflegt. Etwas elitär, aber auch freundlich.

Wonderful golf course set in a forrest which gives it a very special atmosphere. Its varied and challenging but very playable at the same time. The Locker rooms oozes history with old clubs from Seve mounted on the wall. All in all one of the best courses I played in Switzerland.

The Royal Lausanne is a luxoury perfect maintained Forest/park golfcourse. We had a lovely experience. Our Tee time was 7.50 AM and the Caddiemaster office wasn’t even open yet, but that wasn’t a problem as we were able to check in after our 9 holes. Hospitality was great! The fairway is a green on its own. The course is 100 years old and exclusive. The greens were difficult to manage regarding speed and the course has challenging height differences. An experience we will not easily forget.

Tip; check the course’s website before visiting regarding Visitors. There are strict rules & regulations regarding dresscode in and outside the golftrack.

Tip2: Not allowed with HCP above 36.

Hilly parkland course 15 minutes outside of Lausanne. Majestic old trees and natural flower beds give this course a very special character. Very well maintained course, comfortable dressing rooms, outstanding facilities and a sunny terrace to enjoy drinks and well presented food.
