Berkshire is officially named the Royal County of Berkshire due to the presence of Windsor Castle, and golf in the county has something of that royal character: quiet, understated and of an extremely high standard. The Berkshire Golf Club has two outstanding heathland courses, the Red and the Blue, both of which would headline in any other English county. Wentworth Golf Club, technically across the border in Surrey but effectively part of the Berkshire golf corridor, adds a world-famous name to an already exceptional region. Berkshire is accessible via Heathrow Airport, which borders the county to the east. Most top courses are within a thirty-minute drive.
