Visiting Penati Resort has been a while on my wishlist and finally I visited. It has 2 18 holes courses : The Heritage (Jonathan Davison) and Legend (Nicklaus design). I booked for 2 days to play both, but unfortunately something went wrong because when I showed up on Monday. Legend was closed for maintenance and I was booked on Heritage again. This was solved by letting me visit all 18 holes on Legend to have a look and take pictures. Great way to solve the mistake.

Facilities are very nice, with a driving range from grass.

Heritage : It exists of two loops of 9 holes, the first 9 anti clock wise, the second 9 clock wise. It's a lovey course with a great variety of holes, with good bunkering and challenging greens. The maintenance is excellent, even though I found the greens a bit slow for my taste. A tip that I have for maintenance is to add a cut of about 1 meter wide of semi rough. Now it's fairway or rough and we had several balls against the collar. This course is rated in the top 100 of Continental Europe and in my opinion that's correct.

Legend : This course seems to be in the same great condition as Heritage course, and has a different look and feel with waste area's and some bunkers that are really deep and needed to be avoided. It would have been good to play this course too. The par 6 hole is now played as a par 5, although they can still have it as a par 6 if they want too.

The bar is excellent, with what is common in this country low prices for drinks and food. I payed 5 EUR for 2 large beers of 0,5 liter.

I haven't seen Slovakia in the golf travel magazines yet, and many tourists seem not have found their way to this resort yet. If you ask me if it's worth the long travel I say absolutely. In fact we were already talking about going back. You can do like me, combine it with a trip to nearby Vienna, Wien.
