Everything about the golf clubs in Sicily
Sicily has yet to achieve the fame of Tuscany or Lombardy as a golf destination, but is rapidly closing the gap. The island has a number of courses that benefit from a setting found nowhere else in Europe: views over the Mediterranean, a hot dry summer and a backdrop of Greek temples, Arab fortresses and Baroque cities that turns a golf trip to Sicily into a cultural experience. Leading Courses favourites include Il Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & Spa on the slopes of Etna and Verdura Golf & Spa Resort on the southern coast. Il Picciolo is unique: a course on the volcanic slopes of Etna with the smoking crater as a permanent backdrop. Verdura is the luxurious counterpart: a broad, modern resort by the sea, designed by Kyle Phillips, that stands up to international comparison. Sicily has three international airports in Palermo, Catania and Trapani. The climate is excellent from March to November, with hot summers that are always manageable on the coast. Tee times at most Sicilian courses are easy to book online via Leading Courses.
