Isla Canela Old Course

Campo llano del 1 al 18, donde premia la estrategia. Se hace agradable tener que pensar que palo elegir en cada hoyo. Hasta en 8 hoyos que sean par 4 o 5, el driver no es siempre el palo! La vuelta es bastante agradable, con algo más de vistas, un poco más despejado, y hoyos bonitos. El complicado hoyo 12 es un desafío. El famoso 13 con el obelisco es curioso desde luego, pero no necesariamente difícil. El fairway es generoso y el obelisco no tiene porque entrar en juego si uno elige el lado correcto. Hoyos 17 y 18 tienen casas y pisicina del hotel al alcance de cualquier hook, curioso que no haya una red de seguridad. Cancha agradable y ancha, con opción de practicar desde el césped.

Helaas verkeerd geboekt door mij niet links maar de old…. Een typische resort park baan, brede fairway, vlakke greens, best gevarieerd aangelegd qua lay-out, maar niks spectaculairs. Het is hier niet mogelijk om 2/3 slagen boven je eigen HCP te spelen ondanks dat je de baan niet kent. Reizen mee prima voor de middag golf beetje werk aan je techniek, maar kom niet voor de uitzichten.

I can’t understand the last 2 evaluations as we also played the course in January and February 2026. Despite some heavy rains the course was in an excellent condition. The course is not easy to play as the majority of the greens is guarded by front bunkers and when you play a long shot into the green you most of the time you’ll find your behind the greens. The staff is very friendly and cooperative. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed but due to financial difficulties of the owner. Overall the Old Course can be highly recommended!

Letterlijk OUDE baan mer zeer matig onderhoud op en rond de fairways. Het hele complex vraagt om een grondige opknapbeurt. De locatie heeft last van een drukke weg bij een aantal holes,een cementfabriek en bouwactiviteiten dus al met al geen aanrader voor een prettige en rustige ronde golf.

The Old Course is varied with some tight driving areas, while the course opens out during the second nine. Nice location, generally well maintained with reasonably fast greens. The separate locations for the club’s two courses meant, like an idiot, I turned up at the wrong course. Thankfully, the Leading Courses staff were patient and helpful in rearranging so that I played the course I turned up at (The Old) and arranged a tee time the next day at The Links.
