Bonar Bridge & Ardgay Golf Club
About Bonar Bridge & Ardgay Golf Club
Dramatic hills form the backdrop to this picturesque nine-hole course. The smell of pine trees and the views down to Loch Migdale from various points on the course, make this a lovely contrast to Sutherland's links courses. Considered by many golfers to be one of the most scenic nine-hole courses in the north, with pine trees, heather clad areas, the views down to the Loch, and the soft-turfed fairways are a joy to play off. Although some of the greens are a little difficult to hit, the greens along the lochside are large and more undulating. The three short par three's are super little holes, the third you play off an elevated tee, down to a large green with a pond waiting at the rear. The 6th modelled on the 6th at Royal Dornoch, and the 8th green cunningly guarded by pines. A challenge awaits all who play this beautifully maintained course, especially the par 5, dogleg, 5th hole. Hospitality and informality is shared by visitors and members alike. Advance booking is not necessary, and visitors can play the course at all times.

Hier komen we zeker terug.

Bonar Bridge is a wee 9 hole course just outside of Dornoch in the northern part of Scotland.
If you’re in the area and want a relaxed, quick round of golf definitely check it out. It is relatively short as a par 34 and 2,300 meters but it’s tricky with not a huge amount of width to the fairways.
It has a bit of a forest setting to it with fantastic views across the bay on certain holes.
We played there on a Saturday morning and there course was fairly empty and we got around pretty quickly. It is very local so there’s only a small clubhouse, no driving range, no pro shop and limited practice facilities but would certainly recommend dropping by for a casual round.

Mooie 9 holes parkachtige baan met uitzicht op de highlands en een meertje. Afwisselende holes met elkaar verbonden mer bospaadjes. De fairways omgeven door de geelbloeiende Gorse. Redelijke greens. Clubhuis heeft de sfeer van een dorpspub.,

Bonar Bridge is a wee 9 hole course sneaked away in the highlands so if going there for the first time would be wise to let the sat nav get you there.
The course is generally pretty quiet so no need to worry about getting a tee time and parking.
The clubhouse is quaint, comfortable and always met by friendly staff who make you feel immediately welcome where you can grab a bite to eat before or after your round.
The practice facilities comprise of a putting green, nets and a chipping area which is suffice to warm up before going out on the course.
So to the course, a typical Heathland course comprising of 3 par 3's,5 par 4's and a par 5. For an average player there is no need to take out the big bertha even on the par 5 as its not a "grip it and rip it" course even though the fairways are quiet generous but keeping it on the short stuff is required to avoid going into the heather's, gorse and trees.
Greens are not the best to putt on especially if you played some of the other local links courses previously as you will find a significant contrast but overall placed well and large enough to get on for all levels of players.
Overall Bonar Bridge is a lovely wee course with stunning scenery and enjoyable to play for all levels of players, just wish the greens were slightly better.
Would i play here again, absolutely.
