Golfclub Schloss Finkenstein

Ich habe den Platz dieses Jahr das erste mal überhaupt gespielt. Der Pflegezustand des Platzes war außergewöhnlich gut. Die Grüns waren makellos und sehr schnell, so macht das richtig Spaß. Im Vergleich zu anderen Kärntner Plätzen wie Dellach oder Millstätter See fehlt dem Platz ein wenig die Abwechslung und die Höhenunterschiede. Der Platz ist sehr flach und man kann bei allen Par 4 und 5 ohne Angst mit dem Driver spielen. Dies hat zur Folge, dass sich einzelne Löcher im Layout sehr ähneln und nicht den größten Erinnerungswert haben. Nichtsdestotrotz ein Platz der sehr schön zu spielen ist. Vor allem die Pflege hat definitiv überzeugt

Ein schöner Platz in einer perfekten Umgebung, trotz Feiertag eine angenehme und entspannte Runde gespielt. Leider kann man nicht nur loben, die wegeführung und Kennzeichnung ist sehr mangelhaft, wir waren mit dem Cart unterwegs, daher waren die Meter die wir mehr machten kein Problem aber lästig.

Een verrassend vlakke en vooral brede baan. Alles is zeer goed onderhouden en aangelegd. Helaas zit er weinig variatie in de baan. Op de laatse 3 holes is het pas echt noodzakelijk om te bedenken waar de bal moet liggen. Bij de overige holes zorgen de vrij brede fairways ervoor dat het helaas een 'immer geradeaus' baan wordt. Voor diegene die een zeer goed aangelegde met weinig heuvels wil spelen is het wel een aanrader. Het restaurant is sowieso al de moeite waard om even langs te gaan.

Von der Lage, Pflege, den Verlauf der Fairways und den Zustand der Greens ist Finkenstein unser Favorit in Kärnten. Top Organisation, freundlicher Empfang, Restaurant auf hohem Niveau - flotter, freundlicher und kompetenter Service, Chefin und Chef voll integriert, Gäste werden aufs Beste betreut, tolle Weinauswahl, exzellente Küche!

I had the chance to visit Schloss Finkenstein golf club in one of the last days of the season but thankfully the weather was pretty nice on the day.

First, the golf course - very flat most of the way and not particularly very challenging, except for the last 3 holes which were spectacular! 16 is a long par 3 with forests on both sides and a green behind which there is a lake. 17 and 18 are both quite sloping holes with water hazards - definitely interesting ones.

In terms of course maintenance, the course was in a very good condition considering the season - the greens were a bit confusing - mostly slow but sometimes surprisingly fast. However, not surprisingly the greens were punched and sanded, some of the fairways were a bit muddy and there were sometimes a lot of leafs in the rough.

As it was very muddy during the visit, I really appreciated the cleaning area - 3 air hosels, one water one and 5-6 sinks.

A little disappointing was the driving range where hitting a driver was not permitted and one should hit only off the matts but balls prices were reasonable at 2 euro per 25 balls.

There is also a pitch and putt course next to the driving range but unfortunately I did not have the chance to visit it.

Also, worth mentioning was the green fee at 50 euro off-season and apparently 90 euro during the season (according to a lovely elderly couple which I met and played with during my visit).
