WoodmeadEen geweldig mooie baan, goed onderhouden en rustige tussentijden van de teetimes. Alle rust en prachtige vergezichten. Opvallend dat men veronderstelt dat je na 9 holes even een koffiepauze neemt, lekker cool.
De baan en de faciliteiten zijn top, de prijzen gunstig. Wij hebben genoten!

WoodmeadPlayed here while on my way to Amsterdam (visiting friends who took me to Woodmead). Great club with a nice atmosphere. Good F&B before and after the round.
Course in itself is nice, mainly straight and long(-ish) which does not give you a lotto think about. Having said that, playing straight over and over again can be challenge in itself...

WoodmeadDer Golf & Country Club Johannesburg verfügt über 2 sehr lange 18 Loch Par 72 Plätze (7200m / 6300m). Jedoch keine Driving Range, kein öffentlicher Kurzplatz und auch nur mäßig große Übungsflächen, die der Gesamtanlagengrösse nicht gerecht werden.
Der Golfclub gibt sich elitär, Tee Times ohne Begleitung eines Mitgliedes sind eng limitiert. Die Kleiderordnung wird unangenehm auf die Spitze getrieben (keine farbigen Socken, keine 5 Taschen Hosen - also Beintaschen). Allerdings erfolgten Belehrungen erst nach Greenfee Zahlung, Hinweisschilder waren nicht angebracht in dieser Detaillierung.
Der Platz war in mäßigem Zustand, schlecht beschildert und die Grüns langsam und schlecht gewässert. Die Marshalls unnötig aufdringlich, bisweilen unhöflich. Wenigstens die Anblicke auf Umgebung und JoZi Stadt entschädigten ein wenig, dazu beeindruckende Naturmomente.
Das Clubhaus ist hingegen fantastisch! Bestes Essen, tolle Infrastruktur, aber 2 Klassen Bedienung; members and others...
Zusammengefasst: eine Enttäuschung und definitiv kein Spiel wert! Es gibt viele und viele bessere Plätze um JoZi.

Woodmead
18 holesWoodmead Golf Course is a stunningly picturesque and beautifully maintained venue that seamlessly integrates with its natural woodland surroundings. The fairways are bordered by trees, the dams are well-stocked, and the skilful use of mounding adds to its overall charm. With an abundance of bird species present, the course strikes a harmonious balance between urban and natural elements. The Woodmead greens are constructed according to USGA standards and planted with hybrid L93 Bentgrass, while Kikuyu grass is used on the tees, fairways, and semi-rough throughout the rest of the course. The Sandwedge halfway house is highly regarded as one of the country's top facilities and provides a perfect respite for golfers midway through their game.
Rocklands
18 holesConstructed in 1992, The Rocklands golf course is the younger of the two 18-hole courses available at The Club. It offers golfers breathtaking views of both Johannesburg and the Magaliesberg mountain range. The Rocklands course features natural grasslands, imposing rock formations, and clusters of native trees such as Buffalo-thorn, Wild Olive, and Kiepersol, perfectly encapsulating the bushveld atmosphere. However, despite the picturesque scenery, the course can be challenging, especially from the back tees. As is common with most golf courses in South Africa, Kikuyu grass is utilized on the tees, fairways, and semi-rough areas at Rocklands. Additionally, the greens are seeded with a blend of Penn A1 and Penn A4 Bentgrass, and constructed in adherence to USGA regulations.
The Mashie
9 holesThe Mashie course at Woodmead is a delightful 9-hole course where families can enjoy a leisurely round of golf in a laid-back setting. For beginners, it's an ideal starting point, while junior and seasoned golfers can use the facility to hone their short game skills. The hole distances vary, ranging from a mere 60m for the shortest hole to a more demanding 150m for the longest one.
