Golf Resort Cihelny

Cihelny is most definitely on it's way back. Previous reviews are not that positive, but when I played last week with a group of 3, we very much enjoyed our round. The quality of the course was more than ok, Especially considering that it had been very hot and dry in this region of the Czech Republic for six weeks. Fairways are good, the greens aren’t quite like billiard tables yet, but they’re more than good enough to play on. We were a little apprehensive about what we might find, but were very pleasantly surprised. Definitey worth visiting (again)!

Lovely landscape, but unfortunately the course was in mediocre state (sept 25). Extremely slow greens that desperately needed cutting and a lot of damages/dry areas on fairway. But view is nice and holes quite varied

Deze golfbaan ligt mooi gelegen tussen het riviertje de Tepla en de lokale spoorbaan en het Golf en Welnes resort van Axxos hotels. Bij aankomst vriendelijke uitleg gehad van de receptioniste en onze intrek genomen voor een weekje verblijf op dit resort. Waar men een golfpakket aanbieden met 5 verschillende golfbanen incl. deze gelegen aan het hotel. Er is een Pro shop voor al het noodzakelijke en een ass. kleding voor heren en dames echter zeer beperkt. De Golfreceptie in de pro shop is zeer behulpzaam en geeft goed uitleg over de mogelijkheden in de baan en het gebruik van de Golfpas voor de overige 4 banen. De Gary Player design course ligt mooi in het landschap en heeft enkele signature holes zoals de par3 6e een korte maar uitdagende die je van behoorlijke hoogte moet spelen en wat een mooi uitzicht biedt. En ook hole 16 een par 5 met een diepe knik naar rechts waar de vlag op een verhoogde green op je wacht. Gary Player was niet alleen bij het ontwerpen betrokken maar was hier zelf bij de aanleg ook om de laatste aanpassingen te laten uitvoeren. Na 9 holes is er een halfwayhouse waar je wat kan drinken of snacken op het knusse terrasje onze mbt egghead had hier nog wel wat langer willen blijven zitten. Het onderhoud is prima te noemen en de greens zij mooi strak en hadden een passende snelheid. Hole 18 over het spoor loopt stijl omhoog ondanks zijn korte lengte toch nog een uitdaging. P gelegenheid is er voldoende zo ook de oefenfaciliteiten zijn aanwezig . Het hotel en spa met div sauna mogelijkheden bied alle comfort al missen wij we de airconditioning op de kamer en moet de verwarming en plafond ventilator het werk doen maar we hadden dan ook bijzonder goed weer. De receptioniste is uiterst behulpzaam en een welkoms drankje bij het inchecken wordt gratis aangeboden. Het restaurant biedt een ruime keuze in het menu en de kwaliteit is uitstekend en de bediening zeer vriendelijk. Kortom een kwalitatieve omgeving met voldoende mogelijkheden voor ontspanning incl. een rondje Golf.

An "exclusive" golf resort in beautiful natural surroundings, designed by Garry Player. The course is spacious, well designed, reasonably challenging, and fair. During our summer visit in 2023, there were some issues with the condition of the course and maintenance (dry surfaces), but overall, it was fine – which cannot be said about this summer. The surroundings of the course are nice, with beautiful scenery, and half of the holes overlook the Teplá River valley. The clubhouse is part of the hotel—it is spacious and luxurious, with an extensive restaurant, accommodation, and wellness facilities. The drawbacks are the small practice areas and the driving range, which are "out of the way." The small academy, which used to be in operation, was run down and unkept. We used a nearby guesthouse for accommodation because the price at the resort itself was much higher. It seems that the resort is not currently experiencing its best of times from a golfing point of view. I don't know why, because there seems to be sufficient clientele, especially from neighbouring Germany.
