The Golf Course at Adare Manor

Fantastic experience, playing with my son on my 70th birthday at the next home Ryder Cup course. With limited number of tee times each day it was the nearest feeling to millionaires golf- hardly anyone else on the course. Two great young caddies with us ( must have not optional) who helped tremendously in advising where to hit to into the greens. Course was in exceptional condition and organisation of the day was great- no hassle, all staff very friendly and accommodating. If you have the chance to play it, take it with both hands, you,ll not be disappointed

Prachtige baan waar 2027 de Rydercup wordt gespeeld. De omgeving met het prachtige kasteel is sprookjesachtig. De baan is van de buitencategorie. Niet de meest spannende lay-out, maar de kwaliteit van de fairways en greens is fenomenaal. Een overnachting in het kasteel is aan te bevelen.

Our round was part of The Irish Experience, a trip by The Golf Traveller along 3 great Links courses Tralee Golf Club, Ballybunion Golf Club and Waterville Golf Links and 2 park courses Adare Manor and Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. Check the respective reviews at Leading Courses. Adare Manor will host The Ryder Cup in 2027. Perhaps there are better and more challenging courses in Ireland, but in terms of entourage and grandeur, the choice seems understandable. Preparations are already in full swing and in 2027 it will undoubtedly look great. I'm already very curious what things will look like on TV. The Manor itself is in one word unique and of a stately high level. To play here, you have to stay there for dinner (with a mandatory minimum spend...) and stay overnight. And all that is not a punishment. Reception, rooms, lounge, bar, restaurants, staff, hospitality, everything is of the highest level. The parkland course is really beautiful and in great state of maintenance. Not spectacular, but wonderful to play. Especially if you are accompanied by a caddy. Whether the track is sufficiently challenging for the Ryder Cup is the question. I would expect it will be a birdie feast. And that can of course provide the necessary spectacle in Matchplay. Golf highlights on the fairly open first nine I found the short par-5 7th with a beautiful but dangerous near the water positioned green, the par-5 9th towards the Manor with a treacherously sloping and elevated green. Once on the green, the view over the course and the Manor is worth a photo. The second nine play more between the trees and that also requires more precision from the tee. The finale is spectacular with the challenging par-3 16th over water, followed by the long par-4 17th and the very beautifully situated par-5 18th in front of the Manor. For the amateurs, it is important to be straight from the tee and with the second shot lay-up to be left with a challenging risk and reward shot over the river to the green in front of the Manor. The pros will undoubtedly go to the green with the second shot here: spectacle guaranteed. Hopefully, many matches during the Ryder Cup will be decided on this hole. Playing and staying at Adare Manor is a special experience. Difficult to book and not exactly cheap. If you only do it for the golf and the course, you could play several rounds on good courses in the area for the same money. It's a choice. I don't regret the choice we made for a moment...

everything was right, the holes on the backnine from 12-17 felt like Augusta.
