Club El Rincón de Cajicá

El Rincón de Cajicá Golf Club is a private country club located about a 45-minute drive north of Bogotá. They offer amenities that include a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool, 12 clay tennis courts, soccer practice field, formal dining room and an extensive outdoor patio area. It is situated about 2600 meters (8530 feet) above sea level with panoramic views of the Andes Mountains. At this elevation the temperature ranges between 8 °C and 21 °C (46.4 °F to 69.8 °F) so make sure you bring an extra layer of clothes and remember to consideration that your ball flight will carry an additional 10-15%. This heathland-style course was designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr in 1957 and has hosted numerous national and international tournaments. At one time it was considered among the best 50 golf courses in the world by Golf Magazine. In 1980 they proudly hosted the World Cup when our Canadian team of Dan Halldorson and Jim Nelford held off a strong challenge by the Scottish pairing of Sandy Lyle and Sam Torrance to win the tournament. A memory that will last in infamy for us Canucks. Since 2022 El Rincón de Cajicá has hosted the prestigious PGA Tour Americas Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship that will again be held this year from May 22-25, 2025. There are five sets of tee blocks ranging from 5754 yards to a whooping 7464 yards. With a course rating of 74.8 and a slope of 143 from the tips, there are still plenty of options to suit your abilities. This is a walkable tree-lined layout, but beware water is evident on 12 holes and the huge bunkers are to be avoided. The par-3 16th hole is their signature hole over a lake with a stone-faced green encircled by three ominous bunkers. This facility offers a driving range, putting green and practice bunker. Rental clubs are available, and they have a Pro Shop for any other needs. Caddies are mandatory at around 18 Euro + tip and maybe the best we had - friendly, knowledgeable and great golfers in their own ranks. At press time the only way for the public to experience this country club is as a guest of a member or book a tee time with Pelecanus SAS. El Rincón de Cajicá is one of the best in all of Colombia and not to be missed.
