Real Club de Golf El Prat

Ho giocato sfruttando a reciprocità, ma non fanno prenotare per cui non abbiamo potuto fare il giro sul percorso Pink, dove c'era una gara, e siamo partiti alle 12 circa pur essendo arrivati alle 9 del mattino. Giornata un po' sfortunata perché tutti i cart erano occupati e ci hanno dato i carrelli elettrici. Il campo yellow è piacevole, ma non emoziona, in compenso ottimo campo pratica con una area con molti bunker.

Giocare El Prat quattro giorni dopo il DP World Tour ha reso l’esperienza ancora più particolare. Le condizioni del percorso erano semplicemente pazzesche: fairway, green, rough, bunker, tutto trasmetteva la sensazione di un campo preparato ai massimi livelli. Colpisce anche scoprire quanto il percorso sia diverso da come appare in televisione. Dal vivo El Prat è molto più ondulato, con continui saliscendi che incidono sulla scelta dei colpi e sulla percezione delle distanze. Il cart è consigliato, proprio per la conformazione del terreno. Tecnicamente è un campo molto interessante: non lunghissimo, ma estremamente esigente in termini di precisione. Qui è necessario tirare dritto, perché l’errore dal tee può complicare subito la buca. Diversi tee shot sopraelevati rendono però il colpo di partenza molto piacevole e scenografico. A completare l’esperienza, un’accoglienza straordinaria da parte dello staff, attento e professionale in ogni momento.

Absolute treat of a course. From the moment you arrive, you feel welcomed. The course plays difficult & has a strong variety to choose from. The most memorable holes would be the par 5 9th and par 4 12th. After you finish your round, the restaurant has the world’s best hamburger to help you wash away your poor performance. What a gem.

El Prat is a classy old style golf course that sits beautifully in the Catelan hills. Right from entering you get a sense of the scale of the property, that never loses you as you move around property. The service was welcoming and the clubhouse tasteful and mirroring the grandeur of the estate. The course was in immaculate shape, as we played it the week prior to the European Tour visiting. It was challenging, with beautifully manicured greens and majestic bunkers. The walk and views were awesome and truly world class!

El Prat (Pink) feels like a proper test from the first tee. We played it on a trip with friends and it stood out as one of the more demanding courses of the week. The front nine is quite tight through the trees and really makes you focus, while the back nine opens up a bit but still punishes anything slightly offline. The conditioning was very good and the overall setup has a strong private club feel. It’s not the kind of course where you just swing freely and relax, but if you enjoy a challenge it’s a very rewarding round and a good one to include in a Barcelona golf trip.
