Ladybank Golf Club

After a week of links golf, Ladybank offered a more familiar type of golf. This heathland course is perhaps unusual for this part of the world, but it is a fantastic addition to any trip. The greens are incredibly true, and the bunkering is some of the best I’ve played. From the 11th hole onwards, you’d have a hard time making a case for a poor hole. The par-5 13th stands out, playing downhill and to the right, offering a good birdie opportunity. The par-4 15th is another highlight: a picturesque hole with a well-guarded green. Ladybank is also one of the qualifying course for the Open. It's a heathland course in Fife. We were lucky to play with a member. He explained the course and clubhouse. This has a very fine Italian restaurant but we'll come back to that later. The pro shop is well equipped and push trolleys are only GBP 2 each. The course is very well maintained. Beautiful fairways and greens in a lush environment. It was a joy to play (even though my scoring was awful). I took the course too lightly. The quality of the fairways and the greens were outstanding. The course meanders through the trees. After 9 holes you return to the clubhouse (which is fine) and then the next nine are your challenge. Some holes are straight and some are doglegs. It's a course that will take you up any time. After the round I would advise to have a lunch or dinner in the restaurant. We have had a very good late lunch. Super Italian dishes and friendly staff at reasonable prices. We'll be back.

In het hart van het koninkrijk Fife ligt een betoverend, zanderig stuk land waar de heide en dennen goddelijk ruiken. Ladybank Golf Club ligt prachtig in de vallei van de rivier de Eden tussen Strathmiglo en Cupar. Het is een van de beste binnenlandse banen van Schotland is. Het is duidelijk dat het serieuze concurrentie ondervindt in Fife van linksbanen. Ladybank wordt regelmatig gebruikt als Final Open Qualifier en het is een lastige baan waarbij nauwkeurigheid en positionering allemaal belangrijk zijn. De kleine greens zijn in uitstekende staat, maar je moet goed met je ijzers spelen om de stevige en snelle putting oppervlakken te vinden. De strakke fairways zijn relatief vlak en egaal. Met een lengte van meer dan 6.800 yards is het een uitdagende baan die ooit door Old Tom Morris is aangelegd.

Ladybank ist ein Platz mit Heather und Bäumen.

Der Platz ist sehr lang aber ohne grosse Schwierigkeiten.

Auch vor den Grüns warten keine Bunker. Die Greens sind

leicht onduliert und gut gepflegt.

Leider hört man auf dem ganzen Platz die A92.

Das Clubhaus ist gut.
