Er is een zandrug die, zo meldde mijn medespeler, wel 60 meter diep gaat. Dit betekent uitstekende mogelijkheden en condities voor de talrijke golfbanen in deze regio, waarvan een aantal tot de beste van Australie behoren

Zo ook Kingston Heath. De baan is uitstekend. De greens zijn supersnel en moeilijk.

Toch vond ik deze baan niet boeiend (genoeg) om een topbeoordeling te accepteren. Het vliegveld in de buurt met de vele vluchten van eenmotorige vliegtuigjes, het ingekapselde karakter van de basn binnen de suburb-huizen: het maskte de baan gewoon niet mooi, ondanks de vele, vele bunkers, de zeer snelle en zeer geundulerfde greens, de fraaie en brede fairways.

Het is voor mij NIET nummer 2

Toch leuk om gespeeld te hebben.

The 4th Course on my Australia trip that I played. I started very early in the morning as the maintenance was still going on, and was glad to do so, later in the day the weather conditions changed a bit and it would not have been so fun to play.

The clubhouse is nice and very practical, it has the smallest Pro-Shop of the courses I have visited in that area, but well stocked and you can get all the goodies you might need for a good round of golf. The club hosted a tournament on that day so it was a bit busy, but not to the extend that the pay would be bothered.

I had a good round and the course it fun to play, the greens are well maintained, as you would expect from a course on that ranking position, the fairways and the tee boxes as well. The layout of the course is quite forgiving in terms of accuracy, bad shoots are not punished to harshly, but good shoots are rewarded generously! I especially liked the par 3 holes, amongst which is also the signature hole, the attention to details regarding the surrounding vegetation on the those is very high and the greens are fun to attack. Also like the par 5 holes, there is one of two where you really need to hammer it if you want to make GIR.

Great fun, great staff, nice clubhouse and OKish booking process.

Schitterende golfbaan die tot de 2 mooiste van Australie gerekend wordt. De hand van Alister MacKenzie is overal aanwezig. Overvloedig veel woeste bunkers, zelfs grote partijen. Prachtige greens met subtiele lijnen. Wie strategisch goed speelt scoort goed.

Ik had het geluk met hun President Geoffrey Knight te spelen die uitgebreid toelichting gaf over de baan.

Eerder vlak zand- en heidelandschap met veel bomen. Doet denken aan de topclubs rond Londen: Sunningdale, Swinley Forest. St George’s Hill.

Topervaring!

Mooie baan ontworpen doorheen een ruig duinenlandschap. Een lange baan met lastige bunkerplaatsingen. Prefecte greens. Een aanrader voor wie in de buurt is.
