Whiting Bay Golf Club

Whiting bay ist ein sehr besonderer Golfplatz mit ausgeprägten Höhenunterschieden und einer Fülle sehr langer Par3s die sich mit kurzen Par4s abwechseln. Der Platz bietet sensationelle Blicke Richtung Festland und die Troon Region und ist sehr spielenswert (auch wenn ich ihn eher nicht als Heimatclub wählen würde). Der Pflegezustand war wirklich vorbildlich, es gibt nahezu keine Bunker, nur die Grüns waren sehr weich und eher langsam. Par5 Löcher sind (wie oft bei schottischen Community courses) Fehlanzeige. Ich habe heute großen Spaß gehabt und würde diesen Golfplatz unbedingt empfehlen!

Kruip door sluip door - op de helling boven het dorp is de baan! Alles is er maar het is wel een beetje oud! De baan ligt tegen de helling aan of wel redelijk stijl - iets om rekening mee te houden - of electrische trolley of draagtas. Ik deed het met de buggy - diesel - en die stinken! De uitzichten zijn top - afwisselend zeker met en zonder zon. De baan is groen, afwisselend en zeker niet makkelijk. De greens liggen meestal hoger dus als je ze mist - geschikt voor de wedge - dus neem die mee! Het clubhuis is typisch Schots en vol met historie en rommel uit vervlogen tijden! Leuke baan om gespeeld te hebben.

Following the beautiful coastline (south from Lamlash) our next stop was Whiting Bay Golf Club. We got the most welcome reception you can imagine. The Course is overlooking the 'Firth of Clyde', that is one of the deepest coastal waters in the British Isles. No surprise that I spotted my first submarine 'in the wild' there. Another golf course, without any par-5 (par-63 total), but it's a real beauty, with ditches, hollows and spectacular views.
