St Michaels Golf Club

St Michael’s blijft een aanrader, zeer heuvelachtig perfect onderhouden en razend snelle greens. Vriendelijke mensen en vanaf de green van hole 6 zie je St Andrews. Prijs is geweldig zeker zo dicht bij The Old Course.

Zoals meerdere spelers aangegeven zijn de eerste negen een tikkeltje saai de tweede negen maken dat meer dan goed. Door fe lage ruff, de ligging van de baan en de brede fairways vind je je bal snel weer terug. 18 holes met 1 bal lukt me anders niet zo vaak. Goedkope baan en zeker de moeite waard op weg naar St Andrews.

E' la terza volta che gioco e mi diverto qui. La siccità di questa stagione pazza anche in Scozia rende il terreno duro e l'erba al limite in molte zone: qui come in molti percorsi l'irrigazione è prevista solo per i green ma ai fairways dovrebbe pensarci la pioggerellina scozzese. Il rapporto qualità prezzo a St. Michaels è imbattibile, a mio avviso, anche pensando che a pochi chilometri ci sono i percorsi più cari della Scozia. Prenotate in anticipo perchè tanti giocatori locali si sono iscritti qui e hanno ragione.

Ontzettend leuke Schotse lokale baan. Goed onderhoud, best snelle greens en prachtige vergezichten. Ook veel hoogte verschil.

De baan heeft qua oefenfaciliteiten alleen een putting green voor het clubhuis en een kooi als driving range met chipping area. Maar op 5 min autorijden is de st Andrews inland links driving range, waar je voor een paar pond ballen kunt slaan. Ik heb daar ingeslagen en toen ben ik na kort ritje gaan spelen.

De baan heeft ook een speciaal last minute tarief en voor minder drukke tijden ook een lager green fee tarief.

Played my round during the long drought, so the course was extremely bumpy and fairways yellow, yet the greens were still nice and very fast. Since many greens are somewhat elevated, it was very difficult to chip balls onto the green and make it stay there. Behind the greens is quite often a downward slope towards trouble. The layout starts boring, holes going up and down side by side, but then suddenly it gets really interesting at holes 6 thru 8. Similar on the back ine it becomes very challenging at holes14 thru 17. Quite a few blind shots. Very interesting back tee position on 16, right in the line of fire for the green of 15, and vice versa. Why is hole4 stroke index 1? It is easy and the holes just mentioned as interesting are much more difficult than hole 4. No hole layout pictures on the greens, so the first time one has no idea where to play towards. Signs to next tee near greens of previous greens OK on 2nd nine but not on first nine. The sand in bunkers is brownish. Clubhouse is very simple but cosy.
