When driving up the driveway at CCGC you will see a wooden statue of its creator, James Braid. They very busy architect (300+ courses) created Cathcart in the late 19th century (1895). I found the Club quite close to Glasgow airport via a reciprocal arrangement with my home course, De Rosendaelsche (also founded in 1895). The course is situated on top of a hill surrounded by the city of Glasgow, with beautiful views and steep slopes. I was amazed at how they created this course 130 years ago. I showed up at the first tee just as two members were getting ready for a match. I asked if I could join them since I was there alone, no problem, they were in a buggy, and I rented an electric trolley (recommended!). There were some challenging hikes where the pointers of the members saved me several strokes and balls. At the turn, the members went to the cosy clubhouse and gave me their buggy, amazing hospitality here in Scotland. Then I joined two other members who also helped me plot my way around the course. The course was not very long but still very challenging. I think this is a great course to start or end your trip playing in Ayrshire and arriving/departing from Glasgow airport.

Mooi brede fairways, goed onderhouden. Afwisselend, diverse hoogte verschillen. Voldoende uitdaging voor zowel de beginnende als geoefnde golfer.
