About Mahon Golf Club
Mahon Golf Course is located on Ireland's first purpose made Municipal Golf Course. In 1978 Cork City Council commissioned Mr. Eddie Hackett to design an 18-hole golf course on the Mahon Peninsula. This was to be Ireland's first purpose made Municipal Golf Course and was financially assisted by the Golfing Union of Ireland. The Course was officially opened on the 3rd September 1980 and is called the Ted McCarthy Municipal Golf Course.

Ted McCarthy Municipal Golf CourseMahon is a great course with outstanding views of the estuary. Very unique holes here and no 2 holes are the same. Not the longest course but ball placement is key here for a good score. It is a municipal course owned bt the council and a great place for kids to start playing. Most affordable golf in cork at under 20 euro a round midweek.

Ted McCarthy Municipal Golf CourseIt's a nice municipal course located in Cork City. The tee boxes are in poor condition and you get the impression that the greens keeps are lazy. The course could be a lovely course if the standards were improved.
