Denham Golf Club

A course designed by Harry Colt back in the day. This clearly showed in the routing and the excellent par 3’s one of his trademarks. The course was in good condition and the number of doglegs with various degrees of angles made them interesting to figure out the best way to play them. Definitely a course where one will do better a second time around. Requiring a good mix of long and short shots as well as offering the chance to use the width of certain fairways to go for maximum distance. However, some holes also require a more thoughtfull approach to a good score. The landscape offers some nice undulations that Mr Colt has put to good use in routing the course across the terrain. A good challenge, well worth a visit when in the area. The club is busy with renovating the bunkers, which are looking really good and are in excellent condition after these efforts.

A very warm and welcoming private members club. A classic Harry Colt design, with some deceptively difficult par-3s and tricky greens, particularly when they are running fast. And missing shots in the wrong places can prove very costly! Overall, an absolute delight to play - and a superb venue for the England Golf Women's County Finals in September 2021.

Laid out in two loops, both starting from the clubhouse, the opening and closing holes of both halves do nothing to set the pulse racing but the middle section of each nine contains some very enjoyable golf. Aviation enthusiasts will also enjoy the regular comings and goings from Denham Airfield which borders the third fairway.

The collection of short holes is also very good. The fifth is the longest of them at 206-yards and played uphill with a false-front it plays every inch of its yardage.
