My recent round at Burnham Beeches Golf Club was an absolute delight. Established in 1891 and designed by the legendary J.H. Taylor, this course boasts rich history and charm. The landscape underwent a significant transformation in the 1960s with the addition of over 3000 trees, adding depth to its layout.

Playing alongside a knowledgeable member provided insights into the course's hidden treasures. Trimming back the rough around certain greens revealed the intricate design elements envisioned by Taylor himself. Notably, the recent renovations on the Par 3 6th and 10th holes exemplified the club's dedication to continuous improvement.

Despite recent rainfall, the greens maintained their pristine condition, a testament to the meticulous maintenance regime. The clubhouse exuded warmth and hospitality, with the general manager going above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience.

In summary, Burnham Beeches Golf Club offers a classic and enjoyable golfing experience for enthusiasts of all levels. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to witness further enhancements to this gem of a course.

Fond memories.

I was a junior member here until I was no longer allowed to be. Over a decade was spent here. Learning the game. Getting a handicap. Captaining the Junior Team. Making friends.

It was time to move on when I did but I certainly would like to go back soon.

Burnham Beeches GC sits within a 540-acre Site of Specific Scientific Interest and also a National Nature Reserve. A great parkland course and the oldest in Buckinghamshire. The fairways here are generous although it does still require you to be accurate as trees are plenty.

I have a Hole-in-One here. My only Hole-in-One in fact. I was 12 years old and on the uphill par-3 6t hole. You can’t see the bottom half of the pin. Driver pulled – I was 12. Went up to the green and couldn’t see it. Bam! In the hole it was. I haven’t had another in the 12 years since. Well if I get another before August 2020 then I guess it will be a once-in-a-twelve-year-event. Hmmmm – A challenge set.

Burnham Beeches provides a challenging but hugely enjoyable golf course in a beautiful setting. The undulating layout based on gravel, drains particularly well and the full greens, tees and fairway irrigation ensures good summer playing conditions.

The course is regularly used for county and national events with the four-day men’s open record holder for the lowest score being none other than Luke Donald.

Everyone who I have ever spoken to about the course, holds it in very high regard and enjoys the test. A recommendation, absolutely.

This course is a good test of golf and is in a wonderful condition given the rain that we have had, the club house is a bit stuffy and needs to move with the times.

Founded in 1891 and originally designed by JH Taylor, Burnham Beeches provides a challenging but hugely enjoyable golf course in a beautiful setting on the edge of the historic Burnham Beeches woodland. Being over 100 years old the course benefits from having a large number of mature trees which frame the majority of the holes. The undulating layout based on gravel, drains particularly well, and the full greens, tees and fairway irrigation ensures good summer playing conditions. The club has hosted professional, national and county golfing events as well as receiving awards for the quality of the course.
