Kennemer Golf & Country Club

Afgelopen woensdag B/A gespeeld. Het was prima weer, droog met een matige wind. De baan lag er (wederom) fantastisch bij. Sinds de baan aangepast is, door het weghalen van heel veel "prikkelstuiken" is hij ook voor wat hogere handicappers goed te spelen. Maar, het blijft een uitdagende baan, door de plaatsen waar de bunkers liggen en de glooiende stukken waar de bal soms naar een positie rolt, waar jij hem liever niet had gehad. Daarna heerlijk wat gedronken en gegeten, waarbij de kwaliteit en de bediening prima was.

Der Kennemer Golf & Country Club ist der älteste Links-Platz der Niederlande Der Platz besteht aus drei Neun-Loch-Parcours die den hügeligen Dünen nahe am Meer gelgen sind. Es gibt die A-Löchern (Van-Hengel-Platz), den B-Löchern (Pennink-Platz) und den C-Löchern (Colt-Platz). Die 3 verschiedenen Kombinationen haben alle teilsweise anspruchsvolle Elemente. 2027 werden hier die KLM Open ausgetragen und es wird ein Mix aus den 3 Plätzen als Championsship Course zusammengestellt. Der Parcours war trotz der heissen Sommertage gut zu bespielen, auch wenn einige Fairways durch die grosse Sommerhitze doch etwas in Mitleidenschaft gezogen worden sind. Die Grüns waren fair aber nicht wirklich schnell. Der Patz lässt sich gut zu Fuss bewältigen. Als wir nach der Runde darum geben haben das man uns ein Taxi ruzft, war man weder in Sekretariat noch im Restaurant dazu in der Lage, was unseren Gesamteindruck nicht wirklich verbessert hat. The Kennemer Golf & Country Club is the oldest links course in the Netherlands. The course consists of three nine-hole courses set among the rolling dunes near the sea. There are the A holes (Van Hengel Course), the B holes (Pennink Course), and the C holes (Colt Course). The three different combinations all feature challenging elements in some sections. In 2027, the KLM Open will be held here, and a mix of the three courses will be combined to form the Championship Course. Despite the hot summer days, the course was playable, even though some fairways had been somewhat affected by the intense summer heat. The greens were fair but not particularly fast. The course is easy to navigate on foot. When we asked after our round to have a taxi called for us, neither the front desk nor the restaurant was able to accommodate our request, which didn’t exactly improve our overall impression.

Mooie golfbaan waar de afgelopen jaren veel werk is verzet. Zo zijn de duindoorns weggehaald (die horen hier oorspronkelijk ook niet) en zijn de meeste schelpen paden vervangen door gras paden. Het onderhoud is geweldig en de greens zijn snel en door de ondulatie is een drie put snel gemaakt. Na afloop is het genieten qua eten en het geweldige uitzicht.

Ondanks het slechte weer gespeeld op een uitstekend onderhouden, afwisselende en vaak lastige baan. Greens redelijk snel. Rough op sommige plaatsen erg dicht, maar elders toch ook weer rede3lijk bespeelbaar. Baan vereist op sommige holes enorme precisie. In het clubhuis prima vertoeven met prima gerechten en vriendelijke bediening.

Welcome to the friendly confines of maybe the only real country club of the Netherlands. With heights and winds and gales a true links experience in the lowlands. Whilst the course is being prepared for the 2027 KLM open (one year from now) the fairways are broad and the greens rapid and tricky. The championship course today was B/C. Starting from the gorgeous clubhouse to the back along dunes and pines. Long par 3’s and tricky uphills make the front 9 challenging enough. The back nine (=9) starts high and high and bends towards the back of the course. With a north east wind th noises from the racing track remain on the background. What a pleasant round and what a joy to experience this course. And even better: friendly members and an outstanding caddie master make wish for more. Tomorrow?
