Penina Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course (Penina)Toch bijzonder om op de sit Henry cotton championship course te spelen. Geen moeilijke baan, maar tactisch spel is op de par 5’s zeker nodig. Alleen ver slaan gaat je geen birdies geven. Info op de borden bij de tee is erg matig, je hebt je eigen afstandsmeter zeker nodig. Greens goed, snel en met bite. Fairways wegens water gebrek op veel plaatsen zonder gras. Vreemd dat er geen local rule is. Wij hadden een erg slome ronde 4 uur 45 minuten. Tip als je er bent, kijk in het starters hokje dat is een klein golf museum.
Penina Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course (Penina)Golf de vacances mais parcours traversées par un cours d'eau sur une bonne partie des trous sans que l'on sache une seule fois à quelle distance il traverse, les quelques rares dessins des trous au départ n'indiquent pas les distances Fairways jaunes mais peut-être préfigurateurs de ce que les golfeurs rencontreront de plus en plus sur tout les golfs du monde (sécheresse) bunkers de "qualité" très inégale greens corrects

Penina Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course (Penina)
18 holesPreviously The Penina, but known as the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course, the main 18 holes provide the most demanding test of a player's skills in the Algarve, if not in Portugal. With the inevitable difficulty that flat landscaping and terrain creates with club selection, the holes are crossed and flanked by a series of streams, ditches and water hazards, demanding precisely executed shots to avoid trouble and achieve par. The course is beautifully maintained, winding past tall stands of eucalyptus and clumps of palm to mainly elevated greens which have subtle slopes and sometimes treacherous speeds. 9 holesThe Resort Course, a more recent nine holes on the north side of the hotel, strategically demanding, can also be considered a challenge for the more experienced players and equally provides gentle training grounds for beginners. This course features 18 tees and makes full use of Sir Henry Cotton's principles with a number of lakes and sand hazards making it an enjoyable course that tests the skills of all abilities.
