Donkeygolf was hier op 28 oktober 2025! Geboekt via Deemples.

At the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club you will find the slightly hilly Valley Course and the flatter Garden Course. The two 18-hole Parkland courses were built by Max Wexler and Ted Parslow. The best thing about this impersonal golf factory are the 18 holes which are illuminated for night golf, so you can escape the mostly hot and humid tropical climate in the evening well.

Played this course twice while staying at the hotel on the resort, All I can say is avoid at all costs. Took 10 emails for them to accept my bookings, then they cancelled one as the course was full!

When we arrived we got on to the Valley course and the condition is not great, it starting to look run down if condition doesn't improve cant see them getting the EurAsia Cup again. Also caddy shortage so no caddies available.

Went second time to play garden that I had a booking for only to be told it had been booked out by Korea (i am guessing they meant a Korean party) but to cancel on me twice and refuse us access to play the course we booked is unacceptable in my eyes.

Obviously my money wasnt good enough and I will never go back or recommend this course.

There is not much to rave about or suggest that is positive with regards to this course. I have played multiple courses across the world and would be hard-pressed to ever recommend this course to anyone who enjoys the game of golf.

Pros

- It was sunny (No rain).

- Not as crowded as "hyped" by the golf agent.

- I finished with the worst score I've ever had and never so relieved to be off the course.

Cons

Communication:

The information provided on their brochure is misleading and considering I flew in from the States to be informed I couldn't play because it was a holiday was disappointing. The information provides weekdays/Weekend rates for members/hotel guest/ and visitors, made no mention of holiday rates and minimum person requirements.

Had I known, I could have visited anywhere else in Asia, and spent money playing golf with less stress.

The level of communication provided and the manner in which I was spoken too as a patron left much to be desired. A couple of golf associates were just blatantly rude, and dismissive in their response when I voiced my concern. It was clear that policy over profit so,0 ringgits was better than payment from 1golfer.

The overall management experience was disappointing.

Caddy Service.

I played the valley course the day earlier, and while I paid and tipped the caddy, It was substandard service. Truthfully, I'd rather play by myself than have a less than a substantial caddy.

- I'm not a smoker and my caddy was. (Fine, that's life)

- His English was not very good which made it difficult to communicate, and I was left guessing or in doubt on most holes.

- He kept talking to himself or praying (not sure) but in either case, that freaked me out. At one point he started hitting himself in the face.

- Before reaching hole 4, and throughout the round, he kept insisting that he was a bad caddy, and felt stupid. It got to a point I had to tell him he was not, and it's ok. (which consoling my caddy's emotional state is the last thing I want to be thinking about while trying to playing golf).

- On several holes, he was just walking around in his "own" world aimlessly and I was not sure what he was doing.

And in truth, I've never been more relieved to walk off the course after such an experience.

While I don't want to harp on negativity, Id likes to offer to advise to Glenmarie Management.

- Learn to treat all Paying patrons of your institution with a level of service that is equal, and makes them wish to return.

Bias, prejudice, assumptions are things that you should work on if you wish to compete with the upper tier golf courses across the world.

- Invest more time in how you treat your patrons, employees, and learn to create a win-win environment. I doubt you would provide a Malaysian Caddy to a Chinese man who Doesn't speak Malaysian, so think about your management service and quality. A lack of effort or bias shows in your service.

- As a management team Is clear and concise with your information.

In between sightseeing and acclimatizing ourselves in Kuala Lumpur, we got in a round at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, a relatively sublime layout on a flat piece of property. I can’t say that it was my favorite course but it was definitely a great way to ease back into your game. The best part is that all 18 holes are lit for night golf, a must do if you have never attempted to play beneath the stars. 18 holes including cart and a well-informed female caddy is around $60USD (tip extra). Starting from RM380 each (about $120USD) two of you could play 18 holes with breakfast and stay at the Holiday Inn situated right on the golf course.
