We played here to say goodbye to one of our employees. It’s a high-end club and the facilities are great. Good driving range and free balls and you can from the grass. Spandersbosch is a tight forest course which opens up on the last few holes. It’s not really a problem that the course is tight, but the fairways also slope quite a bit which results in difficult shots even if you hit a straight iron. In my opinion this is not really fair. It’s pretty difficult to rate Barlassina. The club is a real member and country club and has just opened its doors to non-members and has quite some plans to improve the course. The facilities are very nice. The clubhouse is huge, the dressing rooms are good with nice guest showers, the terrace is nice and close to the putting green. Villa d’Este was the highlight of the trip for me. The views here are amazing, the clubhouse is old and impressive and the terrace has a great view of the putting green, the 17th and 18th hole and basically overlooks the entire course. We played all three loops and I would always recommend to at least play Blue and Yellow if you do not have time to play all loops. It’s not that Red is not interesting but the other two loops are just better, visually and in lay-out. This is a genuine member club that slowly is opening its doors for green fee players. I played Biella years ago and the experience stayed with me for quite a while. I remembered that there were a lot of trees and that is was pretty quiet. The Dom Pedro Victoria course is a proper championship course. It's a challenging course and you can make it even more challenging if you move to the medal tees. This course has hosted The Portugal Masters, part of the DP World Tour’s 2022 and I can see why. This Dom Pedro course is rated the lowest of all the Dom Pedro courses, but I didn't really understand why. We played the first nine holes after we played the Victoria course and we had a lovely round. The buggy does not have GPS (as at Victoria), but the course is really enjoyable. Played here years ago and back then this golf club was ok and the Ria course did have great views, but they have really stepped up their game. De maintenance of the course is really good (mainly due to the Bentgrass which does not hibernate). Everything was lush green in January, greens, fairways and the rough. Quinta do Vale has had a rough start and some difficult years. But, they have definitely found the way up. I’ve played here three times, and the course has improved every time. This course used to have a different name and owner and after years of not being in operation Isla Canela (Old Course) saw the potential of this course. Next to the really nice and cosy clubhouse you see the remnants of the difficult period this area went through. An unfinished hotel structure reminds you of this. After years I revisited this high-end course designed by Jack Nicklaus. We played here in January- so early in the season - which meant the bermuda grass is still in hibernation. Villa Padierna offers an excellent hotel and provides top facilities. I stayed at the Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Resort which is located close to Marbella and Benahavis and overlooks the Flamingos golf course and the Mediterranean sea. It was my first experience with this ‘old lady’, one of the Old Nine in The Netherlands. These are the oldest clubs in The Netherlands and most of them belong to the best in the country. High-end golf club near Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport. The staff is very friendly and helpful, a big compliment for that. Played De Haar finally in the new layout. It’s nice how they integrated the new 9 holes into the layout. A nice course with quite some water hazards and challenging par 3’s. Nice 9-hole course with quite some length especially from the yellow tees. A lot of variation, doglegs, par 3’s, holes with water or with wasteland areas. Played in a tournament organised by Dotslash. Everything was ok! And the weather definitely did help as well. Fact that the drivingrange is far away made me decide to practice at my homeclub first. I wrote a few reviews of the different loops, but never played both loops on one day. On the Leading Courses Series this was possible and it was great to experience both loops and to see how the architect used bunkers and other hazards two ways (as the course is reversible). We played here on a Sunday and we had a great round. The course is a mix between some forest holes (begin and end) and an inland/parkland course. The course is well maintained, good greens, nice fairways and tee boxes. There are indeed a lot of doglegs, something I read in other reviews as well, but it not really disturb me. Really enjoyable golf course with quite some variety in the holes. Some have a woodland character, others an inland links style character. It’s not a very difficult course, but there are quite some hazards and water in play. The course seems to struggle a bit with maintenance.
