La Cala Resort

We zijn hier meerdere malen geweest, nu speelden we America, één van de drie 18 holes lussen. Alle lussen zijn trouwens een uitdaging om te spelen. Behoorlijk heuvelig. Hole 18 van America is een hole om van te genieten. Fairways en greens lagen er prima bij, en we werden netjes geholpen in de shop en in het restaurant.

When you arrive at La Cala, you get an impression of grandeur. Everything is clean, staff is very friendly and the club offers a fantastic view. A thing that struck me though is that whilst the driving range is quite far away, you only get your buggy 20 minutes before your starting time, so that needs some organising. Walking the course is not an option I think given the sometimes long distances in between the holes and the hilly terrain. We played Campo Europe and were pleasantly surprised. Everything was well maintained, from tee boxes over fairways to the greens. At times the fairways are sloped which forces one to really think about what club to take and which direction to aim (in function of the wind as well), but overall we liked playing here. Once finished, the club terrace is very welcoming and offers quite some spaces even when crowded. All in all we had a very nice golfing experience

What unfortunatelly gets worse in past few years is quality of maintenance sometimes. It struggle in comparison with 5 years ago. And what many of my friends living and playing here irritates same as me is that they do not care now who and how play on the courses. You see almost daily drunken group of guys (mainly british), loud music on buggies, slow speed and: no marshals on course at all to manage this and control. Only what they added this year are new stands between front and back nine where you can buy more beer. Yesterday we met 3 flights on one hole together just because they allowed 3 persons flight to play while nobody of them ever played golf (in my opinion). Rental clubs, loud music, one of them even wearing gym tank top and jeans shorts. You can imagine how it was with speed and all of us enjoyed to play this round behind them.

Overally, the resort is beautiful. Campo Europa is longer, but design is nice. You just have to be really longer on your shots to play a reasonable score. Only point where I wasn't happy about is the quality of bungers around the greens. They are pretty hard with its surface and almost impossible to play them the normal way.

Heb de baan al meerdere keren gespeeld en het is telkens een een geweldige ervaring. Nu hebben we Europa gespeeld. Baan lag er geweldig bij. Greens zijn erg goed en eerlijk. Na de ronde is het heerlijk om op het grote terras met fantastische vieuw wat te drinken of te eten. Personeel is gastvrij en behulpzaam. Komen zeker weer terug
