Golf in Canary Islands

In total, there are 23 golf courses on the Canary Islands. Most of them are located on Tenerife, nine in total. Seven of them are located on Gran Canaria, 6 on Fuerteventura, 2 on Lanzarote and 1 on La Gomera. It’s clear that Gran Canaria and Tenerife are the first options to think about when booking your Canary Islands golf trip. However, the other islands are definitely worth a visit. They can be great if you want to avoid the larger crowds. The golf course on the Canary Islands with one of the best ratings is Abama Golf. This high-end 18-hole golf course, situated on Tenerife, was designed by Dave Thomas. When he designed the course, he wanted Abama to be the Augusta of Europe. Some of the reviewers call this ‘golfers paradise’. The Abama course is located close to the coast which leads to spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Abama golf also offers rooms in their Las Terrazas Abama Resort. This resort offers everything you want when your finish your round of golf on this Canary Island golf course: a swimming pool, restaurant, spa, and sauna. Another high end golf course that could be perfect for your Canary Islands golf holiday is Anfi Tauro Golf. This golf course is located on Gran Canaria and is also one of the highest-rated golf courses of the Canary Islands. Its 18-hole golf course, designed by von Hagge, Smelek, and Baril (known from the Ryder Cup course Le Golf National) boasts sensational views of the ocean and volcanic mountains. A lot of tee shots are elevated, which makes your impression of this golf course even more dramatic. The last 9 holes ìs arguably one of the best stretches of finishing holes of the Canary Island golf courses. Are you looking to book a tee time on a Canary Island golf course? There are several courses on Leadingcourses - like Buenavista Golf - where you can book your Canary Island tee time online. Done with golf? Teide National Park, situated on Tenerife, is the largest national park on the Canary Islands. The park is centered around the 3,718 meters high Pico del Teide mountain. The park offers landscapes that look like they come straight from the Moon. While Teide National Park could be a little crowded, there is another national Park at Lanzarote: Timanfaya National Park. This National Park is also situated in volcanic soil. Lanzarote is a much less famous destination than for example Gran Canaria so if you want to avoid large crowds of tourists, than Lanzarote is the Canary Island that’s perfectly suited for you. Lastly, we would like to highlight one last golf course. Tecina Golf can be found on La Gomera, one of the least known Canary Islands. It’s the only golf course on the island. From the par-71 18-hole golf course you can see the Teide mountain on Tenerife. The island is very relaxing and can make your golf holiday on the Canary Islands a great experience!
