Over Royal County Down Golf Club
Royal County Down ligt in één van de mooiste natuurlijke links omgeving die je je kunt voorstellen, in het Murlough Nature Reserve. Tegen het prachtige decor van de bergen van Mourne strekt de linksbaan zich uit langs de oevers van Dundrum Bay, heen en weer zigzaggend van het ene vergezicht naar het andere. De smalle fairways vinden hun weg door een indrukwekkende reeks duinen en worden omgeven door paarse heide en gouden brem.
De 'bebaarde' bunkers zijn wereldberoemd met overhangende begroeiing, bestaande uit helm, rood zwenkgras en heide. De greens zijn snel en zeer geaccidenteerd, waardoor elke putt die zonder overtuiging wordt gespeeld hopeloos is. Deze linksbaan is een echte test voor iedereen, ongeacht je niveau.

The Annesley Links at Royal County Down shares the same magnificent setting as the Championship Links and is full of character. Although much shorter than the Championship Links, The Annesley Links is still a very testing golf course, with magnificent views of sea, mountains and duneland.

Gehört nicht umsonst in allen Rankings zu den Top Plätzen auf der Welt. Das Mekka für Golf Puristen. Caddys sind zu empfehlen. Höhere Handicapper werden auf diesem Platz wohl nicht viel Freude haben, denn es gibt viele "blinde" Löcher und der Wind ist auch immer dabei.
