Royal Óbidos Golf CourseThe course itself is certainly challenging enough for everyone – plenty of water, doglegs and so on – which means your course management skills will be put to the test here and there. It’s great that there are two strategically placed toilets, giving you four opportunities to visit them. Contrary to what I’d been told on two occasions, the buggy bar was nowhere to be seen. But luckily there were two water holes. The driving range isn’t much to shout about, but you can do what you need to do: practise. In short: a great course, certainly worth a second visit so you know what to expect; I found the facilities a bit sparse, though.

Royal Óbidos Golf CourseProper championship course with plenty of challenging shots. Fairly wide off the tee and the par 3’s are fairly short (from yellow). Condition of fairways and greens excellent. Friendly staff and good food.
Royal Óbidos Golf CourseEr heeft een positieve verandering plaatsgevonden bij de receptie. Zeer vriendelijk ontvangst en zeer behulpzaam. Baan in zeer goede conditie. Splinternieuwe buggies!

Royal Óbidos Golf Course
18 holesHet parcours beslaat ongeveer 7.300 yards vanaf de back tees en vormt een ware golftest voor spelers van alle niveaus. De eerste hole, een royale dogleg naar rechts, gaat naar het noorden en vormt een spectaculaire combinatie van holes met uitzicht op de lagune (Lagoa de Óbidos). De belangrijkste hole van de eerste negen is de 3e, een par 3 van 144 m vanaf de gele tees naar een eilandgreen, met de prachtige lagune van Óbidos op de achtergrond. De tweede negen holes kijken uit over de Atlantische Oceaan. Zes van de holes meanderen tussen een ingewikkeld ecosysteem van meren die onderling verbonden zijn door watervallen. Het hoogtepunt van de achterste negen is de 18e, een par 5 van 490 m vanaf de gele tees, met een panoramisch uitzicht over de achterste negen, het clubhuis en de oceaan daarachter.
