Geweldig om deze bekende baan te kunnen spelen. In de week van The Open op Royal Birkdale speelden we hier op woensdag. Enige minpunt was dat we verplicht waren om van de gele tee te spelen omdat de starttijden volledig vol waren geboekt, maar dat maakt de ervaring er niet minder om. Een tactisch uitdagende lay-out in combinatie met fantastisch onderhoud: iedere hole had stof tot nadenken en was een uitdaging op zichzelf.

Het glooiende duingebied heeft iets weg van de Kennemer. Uitzicht over zee. Zeer vriendelijke mensen. De greens zijn snel, Smal en moeilijk te bespelen. Schitterende baan.

Driving into West Lancs, the clubhouse jumps right out at you. Modern design with that standout brick base and white upper? It's a fresh take, especially if you've been hopping from one traditional clubhouse to another. Gives off that “new meets old” vibe.

We grabbed a quick lunch here and it didn't disappoint. It's the kind of meal that gets you energized and ready for the game without slowing you down. They've got the golfer's appetite figured out.

The true charm of this establishment? Its people. The welcoming spirit of everyone, from the pro offering invaluable golfing tips to the affable bartenders and diligent greenkeepers, makes a visit to West Lancs feel like a return to a familiar home.

While the clubhouse radiates contemporary flair, the course itself whispers tales of yesteryears. Proudly holding the title of the ninth oldest in England, West Lancs has been a golfer's haven since 1873. And yet, its condition is impeccable, rivalling newer courses with its manicured fairways and flawless greens. A word to the wise: respect the fescue. Its beauty belies its challenge, promising to test even the most seasoned golfers.

The design of the course is deceptively intricate. It may seem predominantly flat, but subtle undulations, especially in the back nine, bring layers of strategic depth. Holes 12 to 15, in particular, are a testament to golf architecture, offering both challenge and reward in equal measure. 
With more courses around, I can already see a return in the future. If you're plotting your next golfing adventure, West Lancs should be on that list.

A true links course with many challenging holes. I’d like to play off the white tees but the course is still challenging off the yellows.

Practice facilities are great can take the driver out if you wish to.

Chipping green is in brilliant condition with 2 good bunkers
