Koksijde Golf ter Hille

Zeer mooie , goed onderhouden maar moeilijke golfbaan , zeker door de strakke wind. Zeer goede trainingsfaciliteiten. Fairways hebben wel wat te lijden gehad van de droogte maar zijn goed onderhouden. Goede , redelijk snelle greens. Is zeker een aanrader.

Très beau parcours, magnifiquement défendu. Bunker en nombre et de qualité 😉.

Première impression top à l’arrivée, installations modernes très bien entretenues. Accueil très sympa, informations claires et précises. Magnifique parcours très bien entretenu.

Deze baan mag je met een gerust hart een linksbaan noemen. Het is een behoorlijk open baan waar de stevige wind ( en helaas vandaag ook de regen op de eerste 9 holes) alle vrijheid heeft. Het is behoorlijk wennen, passen en meten met deze harde wind. De ene keer met SW 95+ meter, de hole erna met de PW haal je de green niet met vlag op 105 meter😅 Oefenfaciliteiten zijn aanwezig en perfect onderhouden. Driving range met trackman systemen, mooie putting en chipping faciliteiten. Zelfs aantal bunkers aanwezig om te oefenen. Zelf alleen gebruik gemaakt van de driving range. De baan ligt er goed bij. Met deze wind is het toch vaak moeilijk om de bal goed op de fairway te houden. Lekker uitdagende baan.

I'm still amazed how Jeremy Pern managed to turn flat, boring farmland into a high quality links-like course with lots of movement. A lot of soil had to be moved, so lakes needed to be carved at all holesl. Fortunately, most of the lakes are on the sides of the holes. Still, for someone with a natural draw (as I) this is quite a challenge. The trees are growing fast, so the course loses a bit of its "inland links" feel, but they do create protection from the wind. The course has 6 sets of tees, so it can be enjoyed by all levels of golfers. The club uses "numbers" to identify the tees - not colours, so choose them wisely. The course can play long. Even the shorter par 4 are challenging because if you lay up with an iron, you'll find your ball in uneven lies (f.e. the 13). My advise: always aim for the middle of the green. Greenkeeping is excellent. The greens were fast and true, with subtle breaks. I played the course a number of times between March and April (Interclubs) and one could see them improve. During the last round they were mowed in beautiful diagonal stripes. Some bunkers weren't well maintained (weeds), but that's understandable. It's a public course and not all golfers rake the bunkers. Pern went overboard with many, large bunkers... The course could benefit from closing quite a few bunkers, both the increase the golfing experience and to ease the pressure on the greenkeeping team. Overall, this club has excellent facilities. A huge driving range, several putting greens and an executive course, underwriting the club's mission as gateway for starting golfers. The clubhouse is large and modern, the restaurant now excellent. The sunny terrace offers beautiful views over the course. The only remark is the annoying lounge music on the terrace which is not needed on a golf course...
