We played the Jubilee and Eden, both of which were subject to significant changes in the 1980s. In drie dagen Eden, Castle en New course gespeeld. Het blijft toch een golfmekka, St. Andrews links. Als je van links golf houdt moet je dit meemaken. De naam klinkt recent maar de baan is gemaakt in 1895. We hebben onze caddy’s van gisteren op de Old Course gevraagd of ze ons vandaag ook weer wilden bijstaan. Ze kennen dus nog beter je spel en dat betaalt uit in de score. De New course start vanaf een ander clubhuis iets verderop, daar start ook de Jubilee course. Twee keer eerder was ik op de Old Course maar lukte het niet om via de loting te spelen. Nu hadden we 10 maanden van tevoren geboekt via een reisorganisatie. De afslag midden in de stad en met altijd ruim aanwezig publiek is bijzonder. De baan is vlak en bijna alle greens zijn grote dubbele greens. Voor de tweede keer de Old Course gespeeld. Tweede keer is nog beter dan de eerste keer. Wat een ervaring en wat een baan. De schoonheid viel me de tweede keer veel meer op dan de eerste keer. De volgende dag de Castle Course gespeeld. Mooiste baan die ik ooit heb gespeeld. Old Course - Castle Course, de beste combinatie voor twee dagen golf in St Andrews.

Playing the Old Course is an amazing experience. You feel the excitement and tradition all the time. We hired a caddie, which is not cheap, but worth it. The caddies know every inch of the course and tell you where to aim and especially on the greens they are very helpful. Maintenance of the course is great. Wat een kanjer van een baan is dit. Heerlijk glooiende fairways. Moeilijke Greens die erg geonduleerd zijn en gevaarlijk snel. Greens worden goed beschermd door bunkers. De uitzichten op diverse holes zijn indrukwekkend. Hole 17 is een hele mooie van 160 meter over een afgrond. Met veel hoogte verschillen maakt deze baan tot een genot om te mogen spelen. Naast de Old Course gelegen ligt deze fraaie Jubilee Course. Daar waar de Old Course nagenoeg vlak is, speelt de Jubilee Course met de hoogtes van de duinen van de zee waar deze baan direct aan grenst. Het is de uitdagendste baan van St Andrews, maar die is niettemin goed te spelen. Let alleen op de bunkers, want die zijn “dodelijk”. We hadden een stralende droge dag met… Più

Wat een ervaring om op the Old Course te hebben kunnen spelen. Het was even spannend vanwege de “ballot”, maar gelukkig konden we starttijden bemachtigen. En spelen met caddies is helemaal bijzonder. “Just aim at the white house; the wind will take the bal to the fairway, sir”, en ja hoor, zo gebeurde. Hetzelfde met de putts; “That’s the line, sir”; nou, ik zag die toch h… Più

Always a pleasure to play the Old, particularly with my son and 2 of his pals from the Dundee University golf team. Winter mats were in use, but that didn't detract too much from the fun. The medal tees were still available, the course fully recovered from the Open with greens running firm and true. There is nothing better in winter than a still day with (mostly!) blue sk… Più

Wat een experience om te mogen golfen op de baan der banen. Ondanks het slechte weer was de baan in goede conditie.

Il vento ha caratterizzato entrambi i giri ma soprattutto il Jubilee è stato difficilissimo da giocare. Atmosfera bellissima sia in campo che intorno. Insomma è o non è la casa del golf?

Drie banen van St andrews gespeeld in drie dagen. Fantastische ervaring, gastvrije ontvangst. Super lekker eten in alle drie de restaurants.

OLD COURSE: era talmente tanta l’emozione di giocar qui che per me è stato tutto perfetto. Perfetti i fairways, perfetti e non troppo veloci i green nonostante io ci abbia giocato il giorno dopo il Dunhill, sabbia impeccabile nei bunkers. Un consiglio: meglio non entrar nei bunker: l’uscita è quasi impossibile! I fairways ed i green sembravano moquette da come erano perfe… Più

The Castle Course is one of St Andrews Links. It’s a man made links on a sloping hill south of St Andrews town. It’s a fun course to play with it’s big and very undulated greens. Unfortunately were the greens not in perfect condition which made the putting a bit difficult. Well the 6 club wind didn’t help either? (caddies opinion!). Teeing off first in the morning on a sunny and calm day at Jubilee course couldn’t be any better. Course in immaculate condition. As one of thr best links in the world there’s not much to add. Are you a linkslover then go to St Andrews. The course is pretty flat but with a lot of small undulations, a bit undulated greens and tough bunkers. Doesn’t get much better than t… Più
