The usual landing spots on the fairways were roped off though and you had to either play from mats or from the semi rough then. What a fabulous golf course and you really feel like you are following in the footsteps of Champions. The bunkering is severe and too score well they need to be avoided if at all possible. Anyone who has an interest in the history of golf must visit the venue of eleven Open championships. We had the delight of being invited by an international member who gave us a guided tour of a clubhouse which is akin to a museum of our great sport. So who wouldn’t enjoy a game at an Open Championship course. On the day there was little wind so the only defences were the course and it’s myriad of bunkers. I've played here a few times, twice in the British Open. In 2009 and this year in August. Two completely different experiences. This course is very weather dependent. for most of the front nine you have out of bounds to your right (don't arrive with a slice), very challenging start with a long Par 3 followed by 2 difficult Par 4s. Bij het voorbestuderen van de baan denk je dat de beperkte ruimte tussen de huizen zal betekenen dat de holes vlak naast elkaar liggen. Het tegendeel is waar. De baan is ruim op gezet met voldoende ruimte tussen de holes. Wel natuurlijk daar het hoge gras en de prikkelstruiken. Aan bunkers geen gebrek. I’ve played there twice and it’s a place and a golf course I love. Front nine with out of bounds at the right side. Possibly the best golf course I have played in England, I played here at the end of March in so called winter condition, it was anything but, the course was amazing with the greens being every bit as good as anywhere in England that I have played, killer rough if you stray and some really deep bunkers await you. Probably the best course I've played in England, I played at the end of March in supposedly winter conditions but you would never have guessed, the whole course was in excellent condition from start to finish and I would love to play it again, when it comes to value for money it's hard to say that £125 for 4 hours of walking is good but in golfing terms it was worth every… Più
