Hesketh Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Southport, established in 1885. The course is a combination of links and parkland and has been laid-out through mature sand dunes. Amongst the backdrop are the Victorian villas of a residential area in Southport. The course was originally designed by little known J O F Morris, but was later redesigned by George Lowe - who designed the original course at Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham - as well as the legendary James Braid. Hesketh Golf Club is situated next to a nature reserve and is marked a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Seabirds and other wildlife provide an added attraction for visitors.

A Club with a lot of tradition. There are some very interesting and quite historic artefacts in the Clubhouse.

HeskethDer erste Platz bei unserer Liverpool Reise den wir gespielt haben und es hat sich gelohnt. Sehr gemütliches Clubhaus mit einem doch nicht ganz so einfachen Golfplatz. Es war an diesem Tag sehr windig was die ganze Sache nicht einfacher gemacht hat aber ganz ehrlich ich fahr doch nicht nach England um bei 30 Grand und windstille zu golfen. Der ganze Tag war ein Erlebnis und der Höhepunkt war das Bier danach wo wir viele Geschichten von Mitgliedern erzählt bekommen haben. Einfach Legendär.

HeskethHesketh gespeeld op een winderinge dag in juni. Voor de ronde druilerig en regenachtig. Gedurende de ronde stralend weer wat helpt om een lekkere ronde te spelen. Hesketh wordt genoemd als Links baan maar is omring door bomen. Helaas waren de 17e en 18e vanwege onderhoud zwaar ingekort. Beide par 5 maar nu respectievelijk een par 3 en par 4. De baan is niet echt opvallend in vergeijking met andere links banen. Behalve dan vanaf hole 14. Dan begint de laatste stretch met een aantal zeer fraaie holes. Jammer dus van de laatste twee. Ontvangst is zeer gastvrij. Green fee is stevig voor het feit dat het een baan is welke niet echt opvalt. De greens waren ondanks de regen snel, de rough taai en hoog. De bunkers zijn ook beter te vermijden.

18 bucheThe course at Hesketh Golf Club is located on the north side of the Merseyside dune complex and provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities. Although the course should be classified primarily as a links course, various changes in recent years have resulted in it now having a slightly more varied landscape. Golfers visiting Hesketh Golf Club in winter will be treated to large flocks of migrating geese, swans and wading birds on two holes in the far west of the course (6 & 7) as they take refuge in the bird sanctuary adjacent to the course. Wildlife, flora and fauna can be enjoyed all year round by golfers. Around the striking clubhouse are the holes that form the core of the original course. These include the par-3 16th hole, which Henry Cotton, a regular visitor, described as the best short hole in Lancashire.
