Durbanville Golf Club

Erg druk bezochte golfbaan. Ook hier weer goede greens die heel wat sneller zijn dan wij gewend zijn in Nederland. Fijne golfdag met vriendelijk personeel.

I don’t think I’ve played on a course where the ball has rolled as far as it did here. The course is very dry, the fairways themselves aren’t too bad but the ball just didn’t seem to stop, sounds like I’m complaining but it’s great. The greens were very good and very true.

The course itself has subtle changes in elevation but nothing too noticeable. There is quite a cool view from the 13th tee which is quite elevated. When you look at the length of the course you think it’d be a relatively long one but with the roll of the ball doesn’t play that bad and with a smattering of trees it’s not too tough a test.

There is a decent driving range although I must question the safety as the 10th runs parallel to the right hand side of it, I’d be lying if I said one of my practice shots didn’t end up on the 10th.

I played here on a Sunday and the pace of play was pretty good, wasn’t crowded at all. It has more of a local feel to the course and decent value for money.

Nabij Kaapstad gelegen 18 holes parkbaan met oude bomen, licht glooiende brede fairways die overwegen recht zijn en niet moeilijk. Het onderhoud is goed, de greens fijn om te spelen. Slechts een paar holes hebben waterhindernissen en een enkele tee is hoger gelegen. De rough is er niet zwaar. Tijdens de Zuid-Afrikaanse zomer kan het er behoorlijk heet zijn waarbij de oudere en hogere bomen lekker wat schaduw bieden. Terras en clubhuis aangenaam met zicht op de baan. Puttinggreen en open drivingrange aanwezig. De omgeving biedt zicht op de bergen richting Paarl en op de nabije wijngaarden.

Durbanville GC close to the Capetown airport in the Belleville suburb is a nice course to start your african your golf experience. The course is easy to walk with a trolley there are some water hazards but in general wide fairways and low rough. Reception is friendly and helpful and there are practice facilities to flex your body. maintenance of greens and fairways are fine. Further nice views on the Paarl mountains. Good service after your round for a drink or food. Enjoy.

nette Anlage aber schon älter, eher leicht zu spielen, windanfällig. Ist jetzt nicht der superschöne Golfplatz, aber die Mitarbeiter bemühen sich die Defizite auszugleichen.
