Must-play heathland golf courses in Europe

Heathland golf courses - especially when they are in bloom - are really something special. Quite a few heathland courses are ranked among the best golf courses in the world and we couldn't agree more, especially when the heather is in bloom. In August and September, it is the perfect time to book your round on one of the courses mentioned below. The heather - depending on the location of the country - is then at its best.

In the list below we have only listed golf courses which predominantly qualify as a heather course and that do not just have a few patches of heather here and there. Ganton Golf Club for example does have heather, but it is more an inland links course with gorse and some heather. A golf club also needs to have an active rating (meaning: enough reviews) on Leading Courses.
