Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club

Prestwick St. Nicholas might not be the most famous course in Scotland, but it’s a real find. As the 26th oldest golf club in the world and with Old Tom Morris as a founding member, it has a rich golfing heritage. We played in sunny, breezy conditions—perfect for links golf. The course is well maintained, with several holes along the Firth of Clyde offering great views and a proper links challenge when the wind blows. It may not have the prestige of some nearby courses, but it’s an authentic, welcoming place that’s well worth a visit.

Like the nearby and more famous Prestwick GC, there is no shortage of history at St Nicholas. A founding member was Tom

Morris, after whom the perfect 16th hole with its brutally undulating fairway is named. A curiosity is the two houses next to the first green where seawater used to be desalinated. Watch out on the last hole, the nearly 200-yard par three, where the clubhouse parking lot is dangerously close on the right.
