Golf Club Domat Ems

I was first time at Golf Club Domat Ems and first of all - amazing views, beautiful and well-kept surroundings and a great golf course. Very stylish clubhouse, restaurant and different new technologies, such as large screens with tee times, names and surnames of players who are playing or about to start. It is very convenient when you know who is playing before you and who is after you. We can also plan the pace of the game more easily. To be honest, although the golf course is further from larger cities, there is definitely no shortage of players even on a regular weekday. The golf club has a 27-hole golf course, which consists of three 9-hole courses: Yellow, Red and Blue. Yellow and Red form an 18-hole Championship golf course, which we played. Blue is for players with higher handicaps or for easy practice. The golf course is located at the foot of the Swiss Alps, the fields themselves are quite flat, there are many water hazards, and the fairways are wide and undulating. I was surprised by the really good maintenance of the fields, from tee off to the greens. The course has impressive mountain surroundings make this one of the most picturesque places to tee it up. The golf course itself is quite conveniently designed and easily navigated with a push golf cart. Greens are large and sometimes surrounded by many large bunkers. A truly wonderful golf course that is enjoyable to play from the first hole to the last. I could single out a few holes that left a impression: - Hole No. 2 is the most difficult on the Yellow Course. It is a medium-length par 4 with a fairway lined with water on the left and sometimes deep rough on the right. There is a bunker in the landing area on the right, so you need to aim a little left, but not too far, as the fairway is protected by water here too. The second shot through the water also needs to be accurate, as the green is undulating. - 4th hole „Valletta“ short par 5 and very reachable green with second for long hitters, but first one must be very accurate. You need a long, perfect shot through the fairway bunker on the right and at a very precise angle. Then, when you are about 180 - 190 m. from the fairway, you need a second precise shot, because there is a water hazard on the left side and a large bunker on the right. If everything goes well, you can expect an eagle putt. - Hole No. 8 medium-long par5 with a slight dogleg to the left and beautiful mountain scenery. The last hole of the Yellow Course is realy risk-award par4. A correct cut-off from the left side opens up an opportunity for a short approach shot. The Red Course is a bit different but also has a few nice holes with superb views. Especially nice the last two holes – par 3 with green in island and par4 the last not very easy, bet you can smell beer and burger in the restaurant when go near the green... Every golf course rating is always a subject with a lot of subjectivity, depending on various criteria. I always rating by the following criteria‘s: course complexity or challenging, fields condition (especially greens & fairways), service (only what you can get: buggies, clubs rent, condition of clubs, the amount of choice and etc. except staff and other subjective things that depends on your or staff mood), surrounding views or pleasure to the eyes and definitely value for the price. All criteria will be rated from 1 to 5 stars. Concerning Golf Club Bad Ragaz my personal opinion is follow: 1. Challenging – 4* 2. Condition – 4*+ 3. Service - 4* 4. Surroundings – 4*+ 5. Value for the price – 4* I'll definitely come back.

Schöner gut gepflegter Platz. Tee Boxen, Fairways und Greens in einem sehr guten Zustand, es war eine Freude auf diesem Platz zu spielen. Der Platz ist flach, er kann problemlos zu Fuss gespielt werden. Die Fairways sind breit und fehlerverzeihend. Die Umgebung ist schön und wird nur wenig von der benachbarten Industrie gestört.

Der Golfclub Domat Ems präsentierte sich in einem guten Zustand. Der Platz ist eben aber durch geschickt platzierte Hindernisse und Neigungen in den Bahnen interessant zu spielen. Die Fairways und Greens waren sehr gut gepflegt. Allgemein hat man vom Platz einen schönen Ausblick in die umgebenden Berge und die liebevoll gepflegten Blumen auf und neben dem Platz. Interessant ist, dass man durch den Erwerb einer 18 Loch Runde ein Tagesgreenfee erhält, womit man auch noch den 9 Loch Platz spielen kann. Dieser ist vorallem für Anfäger gut geeignet und ist deutlich weniger abwechslungsreich als der 18 Lochkurs. Wir haben die Mitarbeiter und Clubmitglieder als sehr gastfreundlich erlebt. Leider war das Restaurant aufgrund von Covid-19 geschlossen aber das Restaurant bietet auf der Terasse eine Takeaway Verpflegung. Wir können eine Runde in Domat Ems wärmstens empfehlen.

Angenehmer Club mit freundlichem Personal und sehr guten grosszügigen Einrichtungen. Ein Pluspunkt ist, dass man auch bei Personalabwesenheit im Winter Golf spielen kann indem man einen kleinen Betrag hinterlässt.

Played Golf Club Domat Ems on a beautiful 10 degree January day. It's a 27 hole facility. The main course remains closed over Winter but the 9 hole Blue course is open. We could even play on Summer greens which was a big positive.

To my surprise the fairways were bone dry and the course was in great shape for the time of the year. Greens were still a bit frozen underneath and the green speeds were almost US Open like. Awesome!

The Blue course features a lot of water hazards. Only the 9th hole doesn't have any water in play. Some tactical play is required sometimes. The 2nd hole is quite interesting. A short par 4 with an island tee box. The green is also very well defended by water.

The 8th hole is also a fun short par 4. It plays as a dogleg right. But you can also go for the green directly as it's only a 210 meters. Precision is needed though as the green is well guarded again with a fronting water hazard.

Overall I enjoyed my two loops of 9 holes at Domat Ems and I can recommend playing the course. Value for money is very very good for 30 Swiss Francs all you can play in Winter. Especially on Summer greens. Greenfees will get a lot more pricey again in the regular season.
