Dulwich & Sydenham Hill Golf Club

After playing 18 holes surrounded by londons picturesque skyline, teeing up infront of the the gorgeous looking Dulwich and diverse view of Peckham, hitting balls into narrow and wide fairways, long and short holes, after playing 21 different courses across the wold, this small club somewhere lost in outter london towns has to be on the top 5, great course maintenance, good understanding of etiquette, great staff and wholes with great designs.

For a course so close to the City of London we hadn't expected much. However this course surprises as they manage to fit in 18 holes. Certainly a couple of holes are close and you need to watch out for balls hitting the wrong fairway but the holes are varied and interesting. It's a parkland course with plenty of trees and some differences in elevation. It helps if you have an electric trolley as it can be tiring.

What struck us was how friendly the members and staff were - everyone made us feel welcome. So for this green fee so close to a major city it really is excellent value. We'd play again.

The view from the terrace is amazing - you can see the Shard Gherkin and the Wembley Arch. In fact the photo really doesn't do it justice.

They are about to invest in new practice facilities so we can't yet comment on those. The clubhouse is typical of many older English clubs.
