Circolo del Golf di Roma Acquasanta

Door een demonstratie in het centrum kwamen er een half uur te laat aan bij de receptie. Geen probleem, we konden de baan op wanneer we wilden. Tas met clubs gehuurd: we konden kiezen uit standaard of premium, we kozen voor premium: prima materiaal. Alle mensen waar we mee in contact kwamen (van personeel of leden) waren allemaal reuze vriendelijk. De dame in de golfshop was ook heel leuk en behulpzaam. De baan is prachtig, wel zodanig compact opgesteld dat je af en toe andere flights kruist, wat af en toe wat oponthoud geeft. Maar iedereen is relaxed. De greens zijn erg snel, de uitzichten zijn echt mooi en het feit dat je af en toe ook echt zicht hebt op Romeinse overblijfselen geeft echt iets extra’s aan de belevenis. Greenfee van 140. - vind ik wel aan de hoge kant, maar zoals gezegd: het is de hele belevenis.

Abbiamo giocato su questo campo durante una golf week a Roma nel febbraio 2024.

Un bel campo, tenuto molto bene. La club house è davvero bella e ricca di storia golfisitica.

Een baan bijna midden in Rome, maar toch in een rustige omgeving. Dit is een hele leuke baan om te spelen. Prima ontvangst bij de receptie. Grastee range, baanboekje kregen we voor niets en trolleys weer voor een normale prijs. Schijnbaar een echte ledenbaan, die nu met de Rydercup een extra graantje mee probeert te pakken door greenfeespelers toe te laten, maar hier geen misbruik van maakt. Overigens deze dag bijna alleen maar spelers die ook de rydercup hebben bezocht. Clubhuis met een rijke uitstraling, maar met schappelijke prijzen. Op de eerste tee wederom een starter en deze gaf graag wat uitleg over de eerste holes. De baan kent nauwelijks rough, maar wel prachtige grote bomen, mooi zicht op het clubhuis ook. Sommige holes even goed kijken hoe ze lopen, omdat het vrij compacte baan is. Hierdoor ook weinig loopafstanden tussen de holes. Greens zijn heel zacht, misschien te zacht, daardoor ook niet helemaal betrouwbaar met putten. Enige nadeel van de baan is dat je de vele bunkers niet of nauwelijks ziet liggen. Het baanboekje kwam dan ook goed van pas.

Na afloop zit je nog heerlijk op het terras waar je prachtig over de baan heen kijkt. Kleedkamers ook prima in order.

Se nota que es un club de socios con muchísima categoría.

La casa club es una maravilla de arquitectura típica de casa de campo romana. Interior muy elegante y clásico. Bonita terraza con vistas al green del 18 y a una piscina adyacente al tee del 1.

La proshop está al lado de este tee y separada físicamente de la casa club.

Una cosa que no me ha gustado es que el vestuario de invitados o greenfees está alejado, al otro lado del parking y la verdad es que es pequeño y creo que no a la altura del club.

El recorrido en sí es mucho mas técnico que largo, va fluyendo por una finca con continuos desniveles que ofrecen algunos golpes con mucho truco.

Vas a encontrar algunos golpes ciegos que seguramente originalmente no existían y se deben a haver alargado algunos hoyos retrasando la posición de algunos tees de salida.

Uno de los problemas que le he encontrado al campo como visitante y jugador que esta allí por primera vez es que la gran mayoría de los bunkers no se pueden ver.

Están hechos de tal forma que no los ves y muchas veces ni los intuyes, excepto en los hoyos cuesta abajo.

Esto te puede traer alguna sorpresa inesperada.

De forma general la segunda vuelta me ha gustado mas que la primera en su conjunto ya que en la primera hay algunos hoyos (2-3-4) que se me antojan un poco antipáticos a nivel personal. A

Tampoco he acabado de entender el green del 8 con una enorme zanja delante que lo hace una especie de green elevado en isla pero sin agua.

Me hubiera gustado encontrar una primera vuelta mas al nivel de la segunda, que francamente me gustó.

Campo recomendable ya que está muy pegado al centro de Roma y sobretodo si te gusta el sabor añejo e histórico.

Una lástima que solamente pudiéramos comer cosa fria y no uno de los apetitosos platos de pasta que estaban degustando algunos de los vecinos (dijeron que era demasiado tarde).

Played at Acquasante during the Ryder Cup week in Rome. A very beautiful clubhouse with friendly staff and amazing cappuccino and fresh croissants. The pro shop is next to the pool just on the way to the first tee. The guest locker rooms are a bit of a let down, they are in a building next to the parking lot and have nothing of the grandeur that the members clubhouse has.

The course is very well maintained, the fairways were amazing and the greens fast and firm. You did see that the course has been extended over the years (the course was established in 1903 and is the oldest club in Italy) and some holes it's better then others. The second hole par 3 is a bit quirky, and hole 7 a par 5 now has a blind tee-shot and probably the red tee was the original.

We really enjoyed the golf and it was relatively quit for such a big week in Italian golf. After the round the restaurant wanted to close so we could only order something cold, that was a pity because the warm food on the other tables looked great. Would love to come back and replay this course, the beautiful maintenance, the big pine trees and the classical clubhouse is definitely worth the visit.
