About Ring of Kerry Golf Club
Ring of Kerry Golf Course by Sheen Falls Lodge is located in an area of heathland on the world renowned Ring of Kerry overlooking Kenmare Bay and the Caha mountains. The championship course measuring 6718 yards from blue / champion tees was the last course designed by the late Eddie Hackett who also designed the nearby Waterville Links and Old Head. Over 250,000 tons of sand were imported during construction to create the fairways and tees. The USGA specification greens were designed by Ron Kirby previously of Jack Nicklaus Golf Design and are considered to be amongst the finest putting surfaces in Ireland. There are nine par 4s, five par 5s and four par 3s - in total a par 73. This is a great example of golf and nature living in harmony.

There is one missing Category that is the one major (and dangerous) flaw at this facility. This applies to both walking and the use of golf buggies when playing the course. The cart paths are in horrible condition - rough, rutted and with coarse irregular stone. I like stone/gravel cart paths but these are deplorable. Worse yet, many of the plank bridges over the many creek crossings are the most dangerous - missing planks and in poor repair and flat-out dangerous. We encountered two or three bridges where missing planks amounted to holes in the bridges where an entire wheel/side of the buggy could drop into - or a potential broken foot, ankle or leg if walking. Time for some major investment in repair, Dr. Stanley!
If you have not played this course before, I would add that the magnificent views are its major plus and worth one round. It is an extremely difficult course to play due to its many "blind" shots, particularly the back 9. Fairway markers are non-existent or difficult to determine. I would recommend playing this course for its setting and not for golf enjoyment unless you are a single-digit index AND an accomplished iron player.

May 2023 - new owners in process of upgrading the golf course. Think it can be very good but needs a few months to get the fairways back to Kerry standards
Hospitality excellent… good value If you want to save money on “American priced” courses.

Lovely course in the Kerry hills next to the wild atlantic, the lovely town of Kenmare nearby. Course wasn't in the best of state, first few holes were hard and dry, something we're not exactly used to in Ireland, but some specacular holes and the scenery is stunning throughout the 18 holes. we had the nice pint of guinness afterward. very pleasant afternoon of golf with brilliant weather.

Ring Of Kerry
The crowning achievement of a lifetime’s work by visionary course architects Eddie Hackett and Ron Kirby, there are few golfing experiences in Europe to rival The Ring of Kerry. Located near Killarney in the golfers paradise of South-West Ireland, The Ring of Kerry by Sheen Falls Lodge ranks highly amongst the ‘must play’ courses in the American golfers bucket list, alongside Tralee and Waterville. Its unique topography and construction form a hybrid course of heathland and parkland holes. The sand-based fairways and firm USGA Standard greens also introduce some links golf feel to the play. Overlooking the spectacular scenery of Kenmare Bay, The Caha and Beara Mountains guide the view out along The Wild Atlantic Way towards the ocean from every green.
