Hill Side Golf & Country Club

Reizend door Finland en de mooiste par-3 baan van de wereld ROCK (volgens golf architecture) gespeeld te hebben is deze baan weer even terugschakelen. Het hooggelegen clubhuis herbergt de receptie waarbij de cadiemaster tevens de gekozen lunchgerechten en koffie afrekent en een bescheiden golfshop waar ook disc golf materialen te koop aangeboden worden. Want disc golf is in Finland blijkbaar populair. Natuurlijk ook heel goed in de wintermaanden te spelen. Ik liep de 9 holes van de Valley en begon op een mooie par-3 van hoog naar laag. Daarna volgt een parcours dat vlij vlak en geen tot de verbeelding sprekende holes kent. Totdat je bij hole 9 komt. Die gaat weer omhoog en is uitdagend. Op het terras staat een kok voor de liefhebbers hamburgers te bakken.

Midden op het platteland ligt dit complex. Mooie aanrijroute. Prima ontvangst. De valley course gelopen. Hole 1 downhill en hole 9 uphill zijn leuke holes die eruit springen. Verder is de baan redelijk vlak en enigszins saai. Zoals gebruikelijk op veel golfbanen in Finland beperkt de catering zich tot een zelfbedieningsformule waarbij het afrekenen geschied bij de cadiemaster. Minimale personele bezetting. Buiten op het terras wel de mogelijkheid om van de bbq een hamburger te eten

Hill Side Golf has nowadays 27 holes to play as Valley course has been reduced to 9 hole course only. Condition of Hill course very good in summer 2025. Greens were bit slow but otherwise all good. Restaurant and sauna facilities also very good.

The Hills course is very nicely located and well fitted into the hilly landscape. The fairways were in bad shape due to the hard winter but the greens were fine (smooth but slow). As a total experience very nice and quite demanding.

This golf course is very interesting to play. The diversity in the holes is great, the use of the landscape (hilly course) and water obstacles is remarkable and thought through the lens of the game. This course is a serious test of the course strategy and the greens are quite demanding. The views are fantastic and the environment is very preserved and peaceful. The course at the time I played did suffer from a nasty winter, so I am looking forward to playing again this wonderful course.
