Europa

Europe

Golf as a sport first took off along the sandy shorelines of Great Britain, particularly along the east coast of Scotland. Since then - due to a rising middle class and better transporation means - golf has spread throughout Europe.

Par-3 course

Golftechnisch prima baan. Greens waren helemaal top. Met de hand gemaaid ook. Baan mist misschien net wat spectaculaire holes en afwisseling. Goed te lopen. Clubhuis en hotel heel mooi. 2 dagen vooraf hoorde we dat we bijna uur later (13:20) konden starten met onze groep, niet fijn, maar helemaal niet flexibel dat we lunchpakket ook niet meer konden omzetten naar een lunchbuffet en mochten we dit bij uitzondering op het terras op eten. Daarentegen was bediening in restaurant heel gastvrij en het diner aldaar top. Ook ontbijt een aanrader. Ik zou zeker aanraden keer te spelen in combinatie met overnachting.

Prachtige baan Fairways en greens in excellente conditie, zeker zo kort na de hitte van de zomer Super value for money.

Very nice surprise to find such a beautiful golf course which I had not played yet. The rough was at 'Tour level height' (I suppose it wasn't trimmed since the Ladies European Tour competition two weeks ago) which is a bit hard for us mortals because unlike Tour players we can (and often will) lose our balls in such rough, and that brings a lottery aspect to the game which is not very 'sports'). Other than that, the course is very honest: good shots recompensed by perfectly maintained fairways and greens (the latter also having a consistent speed), bad shots justly penalized notably by bunkers which have a very high magnetic power (so one should practise one's sand game before playing). The bunkers are always honestly playable and the sand is remarkably consistent throughout the course, though. Overall not a difficult course, if you manage to avoid the rough, and there could even be (especially on holes 13 through 17) some more 'strategic surprises' to make it even more interesting. Nice surroundings, at certain times one would think one is in the Vosges (even if the course itself is, strangely, quite flat). Never mind the views of the cooling towers of the nearby nuclear plant nor the overhead high-power lines on some holes; I would merely consider them interesting - and you can always aim at reaching a high power line with your drive; that's probably even a good pre-shot thought!
