Winge Golf & Country Club

Ontvangst was zeer positief met gastvrije dames in de shop! Ruim en modern opgezet clubhuis met prima restaurant en vriendelijk personeel! Eerste blik op de baan is vlakke eerste hole naar links en rechtdoor een vijver met afslag op hoogte. Dit is wel verrassend gezien het feit dat je via een doorgaande weg de vlakke parkeerplaats oprijdt. Baanboekje gekocht en dit was fijn omdat je tactische omschrijving holes echt nodig hebt. Bosrijke holes hebben steil aflopende fairways en de holes vanaf 4 liggen op plateau met veel ruimte. Later terug in bos met doglegs en blinde slagen met soms hoogteverschillen. Met trolley soms aardig omhoog duwen maar is bij 20 graden goed te doen. Aantal mooie par3 holes in de baan. Hole 17 en hole 18 geven de baan een mooie en zeer uitdagende afsluiting! Ik was positief verrast en zou sommige holes graag nog eens overdoen!

Heel mooie, goed onderhouden, uitdagende baan. Zonder buggy is deze baan met momenten wel heel pittig. Prachtige zichten en heel vriendelijk personeel. Baan om terug te doen.

We waren aangenaam verrast door de staat van de baan. Alles was prima onderhouden, de greens waren gezand, maar heel goed speelbaar. Spijtig dat de practice op maandag voormiddag gesloten is.

I’ll be honest—I arrived with fairly low expectations. Partly because I’m on a mission to play every course in Belgium and this one was still missing, but also because friends had played it in pouring rain last year and came back unimpressed. So I wasn’t quite sure what I would get. The course sits about 20 minutes outside Leuven, close to a commercial area. First impressions were actually quite charming: a friendly welcome in the small pro shop and, unexpectedly, a falcon used to keep ravens and geese away—something you don’t see every day. The round starts with a par 5 along a pond, finishing on a small island green. A solid but fairly standard parkland opening. Then things shift. From the 2nd hole onwards, the course takes on a much more woodland character, with beautiful old oak trees lining the fairways. What really stands out is the slope—many fairways fall sharply to the right, so aiming left is often essential to find the middle. Conditions were very dry, but that’s hardly surprising given the recent weather—most courses are dealing with the same. The layout keeps things interesting with a mix of parkland and woodland holes, a few blind shots, and even a traffic light on the 9th to manage crossing play. Not every hole is memorable, but those are the exceptions rather than the rule. The par 3s, in particular, are excellent. I ended up enjoying the round far more than expected. Taking a cart was a good decision—the course is longer and hillier than it looks. And finishing the 18th with a par over the water certainly helps the overall feeling. Would I come back? Absolutely. Maybe expectations play a role—but this turned out to be a genuinely enjoyable round. Not a Top 100 course, but a solid Belgian golf experience on the road to completing all 90 courses.

Eerste maar rondje gedaan op Winge. Bij aankomst valt direct het mooie moderne gebouw op voldoende parking en vriendelijk onthaal. Voldoende afslagmatten, met gratis ballen. Alles aanwezig om goed op te warmen. De baan zelf is toch een speciale baan met de blindshots en hoogteverschillen. Wij waren aangenaam verrast. Greens in heel goede staat. Niets dat onze dag heeft doen verpesten. Voor mij hole 8 en hole 17 de mooiste en uitdagenste. Het is wel fysiek een baan waar je na je rondje nood hebt aan de 19de hole. 😃 Ook dat was in orde. Ons zien ze zeker nog eens terug.
