Winter Hill Golf Club

Winter Hill is a golf course close to the River Thames near Maidenhead that is owned (for now) by John Lewis. It sits on an elevated position with fabulous views of the river and beyond.

In terms of layout, it is long and quite hard work when it is wet and muddy - an issue it suffers from in the winter months. The greens were very wet and hadn’t been mowed, in order to protect them. I enjoyed playing the course and could see it would be great fun in summer but I felt it needed some real TLC. Probably an investment in drainage and lots of aeration is overdue. The clubhouse is sizeable with welcoming staff but it is rather a dated place; somewhat in need of an upgrade.

Nice golf course well maintained even mid November well playable fairways well maintained tee boxes. Greens were pricked not long ago although that did not really hinder my game made some really nice putts!

The changing room is not so practical too much benches and lockers every member has its own locker. I got one available for free for the day which was helpful.

Clubhouse had some good beers although can use some modernisation...
