Estepona Golf

A very poorly maintained golf course. The fairways are dry and lack grass coverage. The greens are slow and inconsistent. Around the tee boxes, the rough is either excessively thick or there is virtually no grass at all. The bunkers are full of grass and contain very little sand. Overall, this is an extremely poorly maintained course. The layout itself is decent, but under these conditions it’s impossible to enjoy a good round of golf. The greenkeeper was friendly, but that does little to justify a €90 green fee including a cart. In its current condition, this course should cost no more than €50, cart included.

I played this course last year (see review of 3 June 2025) and I am glad to see that the local management is slowly upgrading the course. The bumpy cart path (holes 1 to 8) has been repaired, the greens are well kept and the fairways are in good condition. Estepona golf offers great views which is always a blessing whenever 'the going gets tough' i.e. one's golf game turns out not to be at its best. As I mentioned last time, if you want to play at a fair cost without aiming for the top golf courses in the area (of which there are plenty), then Estepona golf is certainly your worth while.

De baan was zeer nat men had de baan moeten sluiten! We hebben voor een in verval zijnde baan betaald. Er is nauwelijks onderhoud gepleegd, we hebben de hele ronde geen greenkeepers gezien.

De baan ligt mooi in de heuvels met. Zo nu en dan uitzicht op zee. Korte maar toch wel uitdagend door hoogteverschillen en slope. Wel verschil in kwaliteit en onderhoud holes, met name fairways. 2e 9 ziet er beter uit. Greens oké.
