Golf Ptuj

I read the reviews about poor maintenance before I went so I got to the course without high expectations. I must honestly say the course surprised me.

It is a tricky forest/park course and when you play from the Champ tees (white) the teeshots have to be on point. Also it isn’t as short as some have said before here.

I played in the beginning of September on a beautiful and sunny day and after a wet summer so the grass was super green. The greens were better than 80% of the Dutch courses I played and you can see they improved their maintenance game recently. It’s quiet, fairways are okay and Al of the hazards are cleverly placed. The island green on 14 is breathtaking and when you hit it it will give you goosebumps for sure.

For the relative low greenfee this is a super nice course to play and I advise any golf lover to go when in the region. Also the hospitality is perfectly fine with gentle people working there. The only feedback I can give is to improve the simple driving range which is (very) poor.

So if you don’t expect a high-end golfclub and just want a nice game of golf on your holiday or whatever you’ll definitely find it here in Ptuj!

The layout is as it is… short and tricky so it requires accurate tee shots if you want to score well. New ownership and management is clearly visible as this golf course has never been in better playing condition. Very nice fairways and solid greens. Despite havy rain in last weeks the course was dry in most areas.

In just a few months Ptuj became probably the second best maintaind golf course in Slovenia. Well done Marko!

Short and challenging course but maintenence is poor. Fairways in average condition, on few holes there is no grass on them. Greens are hard as a rock, impossible to stop a ball even from close distance. Lots of greens have burnt out areas without grass, preferred lies on greens is a must for competitive play. Value for money is poor.

Repeatedly played, it is a pity that it is very wet in the rain. Difficulty level appropriate.
