Parcours avec un faux air de link écossais notamment les 9 premiers trous. Très belles vues sur le lac. 2 boucles assez différentes : - aller : de larges zones, de l’eau - retour : plus technique, plus étroit, pas d’eau mais des ravins Petit coup de coeur pour le trous 13 que j’ai trouvé sympathique Malgré la canicule de ses dernières semaines les départs sont bons, les green satisfaisant, les fairways un peu sec par endroit Les obstacles sont bien clairs et délimités par contre un petit rafraichissement serait à prévoir sur les panneaux des trous. Je trouve quand même le green fee assez élevé pour un week-end. Accueil sans plus.

Balaton Golf Course is generously spread over a rich land overlooking from North at Lake Balaton. The intercity road is running paralel to the lake and after you exit the main road it takes 2 minutes to reach the club. I drove like 70 minutes from Zala Springs; I assume it would be only a bit longer from Budapest. The clubhouse is not your traditional clubhouse. It actually looks like an old small farm house converted into a clubhouse and has very little of everything. A very small golf shop corner, a small bar. A small seating area etc. The golf desk receptionist (he was probably the only staff present) is friendly and helpful but seemed very relaxed in his shorts and slippers. The course is a very good one. Especially back-9 has many memorable holes with great layouts. The 13-14-15th holes provide a great sequence. For me the signature hole is 13th. Tee-shot has to fly over a 150 meter gap but if hit too far your ball is in the heathers. After landing safely on the fairway you turn right an hit a down hill iron towards a green which is elevated from its surrounding. Also at 17th Par-3, when you are on the green, just turn around towards the tee and enjoy the beautiful lake view. So Balaton is a very good goof course with a very low profile clubhouse. If you are there for golf, you will enjoy playing.

Im Frühjahr hatte der Golfplatz seine beste Zeit, noch nicht überhitzt und wenig frequentiert präsentierte sich Balaton Golf wie erhofft als Urlaubsziel sehr nahe dem See mit wunderschönen Ausblicken über das Wasser, die Südhänge und auch die nahen Dörfer und deren Kirchen - wirklich schönes Panorama. Das Personal spricht gutes Englisch, ist sehr freundlich und versucht zu helfen - aber fachfremd und konnte viele Informationen im Vorfeld nicht liefern. Der Golfplatz selbst wird seiner herausragenden Lage nur bedingt gerecht. Front 9 und Back 9 könnten unterschiedlicher nicht sein. Das OUT ist offen, viele Wassserhindernisse und dem Wind ausgesetzt sind viele Löcher gute Punktelieferanten. Ein Polster benötigt der Spieler auch für die deutlich herausfordernden Back 9. Das Gelände wird hügeliger, körperlich fordernder und durch den Wald "enger": Präzision gefordert. Teeboxen 1 und 10 sowie Grün 9 und 18 sind nah beim Clubhaus, eine Pause oder 1/2 Runde sind leicht möglich - aber ich empfehle den ganzen Platz zu erleben. Schwachstelle im Design ist die #13. Man umspielt in einer Rechtskurve einen alten Steinbruch, aber für einen Gastspieler ist es schier unmöglich, die Landezone einzuschätzen und den Ball sicher zu plastieren. Kein "risk and reward" sondern "happy go lucky" und das Potential, eine perfekte Runde zu zerstören - ohne Chance des Ausgleichs - m.E. ein Design Desaster. Teeboxen und Grüns waren nur schwach durchschnittlich, die Fairways in gutem Zustand und das Rough durch das trockene Frühjahr nicht besonders ausgeprägt. Die Ausschilderung ist ausreichend, könnte aber ausgetauscht und modernisiert werden. Die ansonsten anspruchsvolle und abwechslungsreiche Anlage hinkt insgesamt in der Pflege. Ebenso ist das Clubhaus nicht ansprechend und ohne Küche. Duschen sehr einfach gehalten, WC ebenso. Der Platz ist in bester Lage, wird dieser aber nicht gerecht. Dennoch ein lohnenswertes Tagesziel.

Visited Balaton golf after about 4 years. This time in spring. Just quick reminder for those who read my reviews 😃, course is close to lake Balaton, easily reach and I recommend to visit. Design is very nice, front nine more open with of water, easily to score. Back nine is more challenging and demanding for accuracy and its partially in pine forest. Love the stretch of the holes 13, 14, 15, however the signature hole for me would be par 3, 17th. Quality of the course is good in comparison with price paid and during the week its not crowded at all.

The second course we played in Hungary was Balaton Golf, right at the Balaton Lake.

Basic building and facilities, but very friendly people!

Course has nice views over the Balaton Lake and is well maintained.

The first nine holes were easy to walk, but the second nine were more hilly.

Hole 13 is not a fair hole. Drive needs to have a carry of 175 mtrs. over a ravine. Your ball

is absolutely lost there if you don't have the langth. The next two holes need to cross

ravines as well,, but not that serious. But... that hole 13 is still in your head!

At the second nine holes I finally found the type of hole on a green I waited for my whole golfing life. See photo.

However... on the second nine there was also a footgolf course. Not for our regular golfers! Pity...

Nice course to play in spite of that 13th hole!
