Golf De Beauvallon

No real driving range; beautiful and challenging course, carts in very good shape. Staff very professional and kind. Apart from the limited practice area I would recommend this course (and a cart during the summer period).

Beauvallon is the oldest course on the Gulf of St. Tropez. Originally built in the 1920s as a 9 hole course, it was extended to 18 holes in the 90s. There is a stark difference between the "old" holes (short, narrow, sometimes played over fences and roads (!) and the "new" holes which weave up a gentle hill between vineyards and offer superb views over the Gulf and the city of St. Tropez. Perfect greenkeeping with soft, receptive greens. Very walkable. As a historic course, Beauvallon has no driving range (who cares? DR's are overrated anyway). The still modern looking clubhouse was built in the 1920s and has been proclaimed a historic monument. Some beautiful castle-like villa's adorn the course. One could imagine F. Scott Fitzgerald enjoying a drink there. Not the longest nor the best course in the area, but if I had a holiday house there, Beauvallon would be the club where I would like to be a member!

Maintenance is very correct (greens, fairways and bunkers). The course is overall quite easy to play, but not very interesting, although picturesque.

Pro: -Great lay-out with a few very nice holes an a lot of variation. -Very good maintenance. Great fairways. Wonderful greens. Nice tee boxes. Excellent bunkers. -Water taps to refill your water bottle on several places around the golf course. -Good signs on every tee box. -Amazing views on the bay of Saint Tropez. Absolutely stunning views. -Beautiful vineyards around the golf course. -The rough between the holes is short. I really love this. Easy to find your ball and great for the pace of play. Con: -Very limited practice facilities. No driving range. Small putting green. -You have to pay for a bucket of balls to hit them into a net for warm-up. This is insane. -Sometimes you have to cross a road. -A long walk along a public road with traffic from hole 2 to hole 3. -Expensive greenfee. -No parking. You have park somewhere on the street.

De baan ligt mooi in de heuvels tussen Grimaud en Sainte Maxime. De holes zijn zeer gevarieerd. Erg goed ingepast in het landschap. Goed onderhouden. Greens zijn geonduleerd en ook snel. Mooi uitzicht naar St Tropez en Grimaud.
