About Golf de Chantilly

Golf de Chantilly was inaugurated in 1909. It was designed by JH Taylor and later redesigned by British architect Tom Simpson who designed many of the other famous golf courses in France like Morfontaine, Fontainebleau and Hossegor. After World War II Golf de Chantilly had an 18 and 9 holes course. Mr. Jean-Louis Dupont wanted to restore two 18-hole courses in Chantilly by realizing, with the help of architect Donald Steel, 13 new holes. The Vineuil "Old Course" course has now been modified with 3 new holes and an extension of 10 holes has transformed the Longères course into an 18-hole course of international standards. Right now Golf de Chantilly has two 18-hole championship courses: the Longères course and the Vineuil course. Playing Golf de Chantilly is only possible during the week for visitors.

Kortom: absolute aanrader. Wij komen heel graag terug! 😊⛳️✨

A spontaneous nine at Chantilly — Simpson charm and Parisian hospitality On our way back to the Netherlands, we stopped at Golf de Chantilly for a business appointment — and while sitting on the clubhouse terrace, we realized we simply couldn’t leave without playing a few holes. Fortunately, it was a quiet day, and the manager warmly welcomed us to play as many holes that fitted our schedule. We headed out on Le Vineuil, the championship course that has hosted multiple French Opens. I’ve played Chantilly twice before, and this was my third time — but with Tom Simpson’s designs, every round reveals something new. His courses are full of nuance: what looks like the right line often isn’t, and the smarter play only becomes clear after a few visits. Deceptively strategic, always rewarding. We played the front nine, which finishes far from the clubhouse, so we checked the card and squeezed in holes 10, 11, and 12 to loop back — not ideal, and almost sacrilegious to cut a Simpson course short, but we had pressing appointments. The goal was to give my playing partners a taste of Chantilly so they’d want to return — and it worked. Back on the terrace, we had a wonderful lunch — the food was excellent, and the staff incredibly friendly. We said goodbye to the manager with a promise to come back and do it properly: both full courses, next time. Chantilly is a special place. It’s not as private or hard to access as Saint-Cloud, Saint-Germain, or Morfontaine — which makes it a fantastic option for serious golfers who want that classic Parisian golf experience, with just a bit more flexibility

Rebuilt after the Second World War, both golf courses have been modified. The Vineuil - is known as the "Old Course" course - and the 9-hole is now known as the Longères golf course. The former Canal course has been abandoned. The layout of some holes is still noticeable when arriving at the golf course and around the canal de la nonette. Jean-Louis Dupont wanted to restore two 18-hole courses in Chantilly by adding, with the help of architect Donald Steel, 13 new holes. The Vineuil "Old Course" course has been modified by 3 new holes and an extension of 10 holes has transformed the Longères course into an 18-hole course of international standards.

The Vineuil golf course of Chantilly was initially drawn by the English professional player M.Taylor who was a man who could not be more competent in the matter. The links course occupies an area of 50 hectares in the large Chantilly park and forms an 18-hole course with a total length of 6000 meters In 1920. The course was completely redesigned under the direction of Mr. Tom Simpson, the well-known English architect. The new holes were very popular amongst golfers when the new course opened on September 5, 1920. The Vineuil "Old Course" course has been modified later by adding 3 new holes which was done with the help of Donald Steel.
