Helsinki Golf Club

In potentie een prachtige baan. We konden helaas niet alle 18 holes lopen ivm groot onderhoud. De prijs was daar keurig op aangepast! Prachtig oude club met veel geschiedenis. Het clubhuis is absoluut een bezoek waard. De greens waren net geprikt, wat het niet representatief maakt voor wat deze mooie baan in zich heeft. Ik kom later nog een keer terug.

Oldest golf course in Finland, so I am told. Part of the holes are under repair, so you can only play 10 out of the 18 holes. Rented material quite ok. Staff very helpful.

Beautifull golf course close to the center of Helsinki. Well maintained and good facilities. The only down side is, that the pathways are partly public, so the are dogwalkers, hikers and cyclists using them. Also a couple of the perimeter fairways are bit dangerous for people outside the golf clurse area. One must be even more than usually attentive at all times of where the shots go.

Prachtige locatie nabij het centrum van Helsinki, waar wij op, niet noodzakelijke, uitnodiging op deze prachtige oude baan hebben gespeeld. Prettige ontvangst door de caddymaster, gelukkig spreekt iedereen hier ook goed Engels. Een mooie set kunnen huren voor €30,00. De set was dusdanig nieuw dat het plastic nog op een aantal clubs van de set zat.

Restaurant en terras waren prettig bezet, het restaurant wordt ook gebruikt voor een lunchpauze op het terras van het prachtig authentieke clubhuis.

De baan lag er prachtig bij dit ondanks het feit dat we vroeg in het seizoen speelden. Prachtige parkbaan met goed gebruik van de hoogte verschillen. De afstand tussen de holes is beperkt, dit maakt ook dat je relatief snel kan doorlopen. Contact op de baan met andere flights is echt op z’n Fins, rustig en prettig in het contact.

De baan is vergevingsgezind, je bal terugvinden meestal geen probleem. Greens goed qua snelheid en uitdagend qua ligging.

Bij terugkomst wachten prima faciliteiten waarbij de sauna natuurlijk niet ontbreekt.

Zeker een aanrader wat mij betreft.

Verbeterpunten zijn er op deze oude baan nauwelijks. De bunkers worden thans vernieuwd.

I was having a vacation in Helsinki and I wanted so badly to play a round. I took a bus and walked 15 minutes to the course in the morning. I was fortunately to be paired with an elegant lady who is a member and gave me a lot of course information during the round. She also kindly gave me a ride to the bus station. It was really a very nice experience for my first play in Europe. The only negative issue is that the greens are not well maintained but speed is quite well.
